🎈Today marks the 107th anniversary of the beginning of the Samiljeol / March 1 Movement for Korean independence from Japanese colonial rule. On this day, we honor our martyrs and their legacy of struggle against colonialism.

Join BAYAN Oregon & Koreans 4 Decolonization @ Reed for a screening of Palayain! The Filipino People’s Fight for Peace: Act 1.
In May 2024, representatives of BAYAN USA and other allies conducted a peace mission in the Philippines to investigate the historical and ongoing impacts of US militarism and economic plunder on Filipino peasants, farmers, indigenous fisherfolk, women, people of faith, and youth. As a result of the mission, organizers created the documentary: “Palayain! The Filipino People’s Fight for Peace” to share their experiences with the broader public. Join us on Tuesday to learn more about the ongoing struggle for Filipino sovereignty and independence and how this fight is interconnected with anti-imperialist struggles around the world!
Date: Tuesday, October 28

Free Will Kim! Abolish 🧊!
ICYMI 5 things we learned at the Migrants Over Profit Community Study:
1. Trump may have lost the 2020 election, but he and his funders spent the last 4 years organizing a fascist base to be ready and developing a program for fascism, Project 2025. Now more than ever, we as a mass movement need to be more organized than the 1%.
2. GeoGroup and CoreCivic are for profit prison corporations that make a 83% profit in detaining, torturing, and deporting migrants at the NW Detention Center. These 2 groups donated $2.8bil to Trump’s campaign. Trump’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, used to lobby for GeoGroup. This cruel alliance is a symptom of the privatization of services and the protection of profits at all costs, a part of the neoliberal economic framework and fascist politics.
3. Earlier this year, ICE detained Yunseo Chung, a Korean permanent resident and student participant of pro-Palestine demonstrations. Tita Maria, a Filipina migrant worker based in Portland, is still fighting back against her extreme exploitation and isolation at the hands of an Oregon based carehome owner. We must connect the mass detentions of immigrant workers, to the deportations of students organizing and mobilizing, to the same exploitative systems that profit off the US’ neo-colonies and undocumented labor.

XO,
Koreans 4 Decolonization
On September 1, we held a rally at Robson Square in so-called "Vancouver, BC" marking 102nd anniversary of Kantō Massacre, a brutal massacre of 6000 Koreans and 800 Chinese and those mistaken to Koreans. This is a joint statement from Haebang Collective and Koreans 4 Decolonization at Reed.
#allempiresfall
Join Koreans 4 Decolonization @ Reed College on September 2nd from 5-6 PM to hold a vigil and reading translated testimonies from survivors of the 1923 Kantō massacre together.
Following the Great Kantō Earthquake on September 1st, Japanese military, police, and vigilante groups massacred over 6,000 Koreans, alongside more than 800 Chinese, Ryukyuan/Okinawan, Burakumin, and individuals mistaken to be Korean or other ethnic minorities.
This is an open event and we invite all students and community members to attend. We will be meeting at 5PM in front of Eliot Hall, facing the Great Lawn, and then we will be walking out onto the grass, feel free to bring something to sit on.
‼️TW‼️ Be aware that the content of the testimonies is graphic and disturbing.
