Introducing our next instructor, another alumna of CanTYD; Aru Selvakumar
Aru is a trained Bharathanatyam dancer who has been dancing since the age of 5 under the guidance of Vasu Sinnarasa. After successfully completing her teachers grade examination, she has went on to become the founder of her own Bharathanatyam dance school.
Alongside her classical dance training, she is also a competitive dancer on the dance team moveasone, where she trains under the guidance of Jesi Sadayar in Hip-Hop, Popping, Locking & Kuthu-Fusion styles. Aru also has experience being a performer for various events including being a background dancer for artists such as Anirudh, Santhosh Narayanan, Sahi Shiva & Sai Abhyankkar to name a few.
Coming up this Monday, May 11th, Aru will be teaching a beginner friendly Kuthu-Fusion workshop!! Join in to learn a fun, high-energy choreography, build your confidence, and enjoy an exciting dance experience with us all✨

Archana Atputharajah is a passionate and dedicated Bharathanatyam dancer who began her training at the age of three at Atputhanarthanalayam. As a disciple of Smt. Atputharani Kirubaraj, she has spent years refining her craft under strong classical guidance.
She completed her Arangetram in 2016, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey, and recently earned her Teacher’s Grade Certification from Thamil Isai Kalamanram in 2025. Alongside her classical foundation, Archana enjoys exploring versatile dance styles such as Kuthu and hip hop, allowing her to blend tradition with modern expression.
Her talent and stage presence have been recognized through achievements such as winning Best Female Dancer at Choreo Clash 2025. Archana continues to grow as both a performer and choreographer, bringing energy, precision, and creativity to every piece she performs.
