MADE Program – Accademia di Belle Arti Rosario Gagliardi, Siracusa, is pleased to announce the open call for the 2026 edition of its International Artist Residency.
The residency will take place from May 7 to May 27, 2026 and will host four selected international artists or collectives (or Italian artists currently residing abroad), invited to spend the full 20-day residency period in Siracusa developing individual projects and contributing to the final collective exhibition, with the opening scheduled between May 25 and May 29, 2026.
The program offers time, space, and institutional support within an academic environment in the Mediterranean context of Siracusa. The residency is open to artists working across disciplines and encourages proposals focused on research, experimentation, and dialogue with students and the local context.

The process behind this print.
I started with a laser cutting machine to prepare the base, then went into the slow, tactile part: carving by hand with traditional engraving tools, ink, pressure, repetition.
Each print is slightly different, and that’s the point.

In occasione dell’apertura della nuova galleria SIRAMUSE (@siramuse_ ) , all’interno del corso di Branding e Comunicazione Visiva guidato da Francesca Pavese (@francescapavese.design ), gli studenti e le studentesse del terzo anno di Arti Visive hanno lavorato allo sviluppo della Visual Identity per il Museo Multimediale delle Storie di Siracusa.
Il naming, SIRAMUSE, nasce dalla fusione di Siracusa e Museo (dal greco Μουσεῖον, “il luogo sacro delle Muse”), definendo un’identità concettualmente solida, radicata nel patrimonio culturale e accessibile in quattro lingue.
Simbolo e logotipo sono stati progettati su una griglia modulare che richiama l’iniziale del museo e suggerisce la linearità delle proiezioni e il movimento del mare — elementi visivi legati al territorio siracusano.
Il linguaggio visivo si discosta dai codici tradizionali della comunicazione museale, scegliendo un approccio contemporaneo e accessibile, attraverso l’utilizzo di illustrazioni originali e pattern.
Il sistema visivo, applicato a banner urbani, materiali cartacei e merchandising, rafforza la presenza del museo nello spazio cittadino, rendendolo un punto di riferimento culturale riconoscibile, capace di dialogare con un pubblico ampio, dalle famiglie ai visitatori più giovani.

Il primo incontro si terrà martedì 28 ottobre alle ore 18.00 in Via Cairoli 20, Siracusa.
L’incontro inizierà con una breve introduzione al gioco e alle sue regole di base, seguita da un momento di partite libere e socializzazione.
Un’occasione per allenare la mente, conoscersi e passare del tempo insieme in modo diverso.

Part 1
This piece is a hand-crocheted blanket through which I explore the theme of the internet and the digital avatar. The illustration I created in yarn depicts something deeply familiar to many netizens: cat photos, landscapes, half-naked selfies, news about classmates getting married. Through symbolic rectangular «screens,» I reference the constant stream of images and updates we encounter every day in that strange and beautiful place we call the internet.
The choice of medium is intentional — crochet and yarn, a technique traditionally passed down through female family lines, slow and meditative by nature. I found it meaningful to examine such a fast-moving, ever-changing digital reality through a medium that requires repetition, patience, and time. This contrast creates a playful tension between speed and slowness, ephemerality and materiality, digital life and tactile craft.
