Beethoven Market is officially OPEN for business!
On Halloween 2023 I met @cashmerebeachbum outside of a construction site of a defunct liquor store that he was looking for investors to turn into a restaurant. Not savvy, or frankly particulary interested in investing in restaurants, I heard him out.
Instead of pitching me on food concepts (we didn’t even talk about food) or ROI, he shared a vision for what our neighborhood needed - a true community gathering spot where everyone could afford to hang out all day. We talked about the sociological concept of a “third place” — and his vision for Beethoven Market to become that essential third place in people’s lives after home and work. We talked about how giving out king-sized candy bars on halloween makes him happy and how he wants to carry that same energy into this space.
Ya girl was sold. I took a chance and invested in that vision - more than anything it was taking a bet on Jeremy and taking a bet on Mar Vista - because I believed my neighborhood deserved exactly this kind of space and I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life.
After documenting the journey through my film camera these past 18 months, I couldn’t be prouder of the opening this past week. Huge congrats to Jeremy and the entire Beethoven Market team for bringing this dream to life. Come experience the delicious food (all under $30!), incredible vibes, and the community gathering spot we’ve all been hungry for.

Making this movie was such an overwhelmingly positive experience. I’m so proud of the whole cast and crew, but most especially proud of writer/director @carmenemmi . You wrote an incredible script, you lead the cast and crew with your whole heart, you made us laugh countless times along the way, you freaking pulled it off and now you’re at in competition at Sundance!! Love you buddy!!
Yeeeeeeeah!!! When you find a career that just *clicks* with every ounce of your being!!! No other way I’d like to use my time on this rock!!! What a crew! What a cast! Absolutely thrilling!!!!!!!
