I can't tell you how eager I am to fire these guys! And to glaze them, even!
Tomorrow, I'll try loading the kiln to see how close I am to filling it for a firing. I want to cram it as full as I can to fire efficiently and have an even load. 👀🔥
The bone dry stage is always such a fragile stage; I'm always afraid I might drop, bump or crush the pieces. So far, only one casualty (if you've seen my stories the last month, you'll know which one 🥹). After the first firing, the pieces are much more resilient. So I can't wait to get the kiln going. 🔥🙏

Figured it was time for a small introduction post. 💚 Hi guys, I'm Joany (she/they), but feel free to call me Jutter!
Some facts about me:
🐉 I started pottery in early 2023, but have been illustrating & working with clay for a while before then!
🦭 The name Jutter comes from the Dutch word for beachcomber, which is what people from my hometown are called!
🌊 I grew up near the sea and love the beach!
🪴 What I love most about ceramics is blurring the line between the 2D illustrations and the 3D clay, and how the possibilities are endless!
🏺 I studied ancient history (and the Roman Empire is my Roman Empire)!

Although.. I made it when I was having a migraine. So maybe migraine dragon? 🥹✨️
In all honesty, it was nice to focus on something other than the pain and still create something. My attacks have been more frequent lately, and I've been trying to find ways to better deal with the pain.
Keeping myself occupied as much as I comfortably can does seem to help to experience the pain differently, but I gotta admit, it's been rough. 💚 For now, I try to appreciate the pain-free days as much as I can. 🙏
I'm so excited to get this batch of elemental dragons fired also!!! 😤 I'll keep you guys posted!

I deeply feel generative AI has no place in art. So it's probably no surprise that @parispaloma 's new song Miyazaki resonates so much with me. 💚
When I saw an announcement for her fanart challenge, in which we were invited to take a sentence from the song and make art around it, I couldn't help but pour my feelings into a mug!
I'll be real with you. We gotta cherish the very human experience that is making art, something we are all invited to by nature. And I don't even mean professional art that has to be 'good'. Art and crafts in general allow us to express who we are and what we feel, and to leave our mark, to pass it on to others and to say 'I was here, I spent time here, this is me'. No one can make YOUR art for you, just like no one can live your life for you. Imperfections are welcome. Aren't we all imperfect, and isn't that beautiful in itself?
I feel the strong need to push back against 'innovations' that seek to replace humanity with slop for the sake of profit and control. That remove our skills and makes me believe we can't do things on our own. We can, and we must!
In this illustration I tried to capture the feeling that I experience when I'm in an art flow: fully at ease, present, connected to my body, free. 💚 I hope that resonates with you, too!
