Winter has hit South Africa hard. 🌧️❄️
Temperature drops in Jozi and the CPT floods have been hard to watch as animals shelters take a beating.
And while we can't fix all of it — we CAN do JustOneThing.
This week on #WellbeingWednesday we're launching a winter blanket drive for pets in need through @justonething365 , with @ifeel919 and @themiddayexchangeon919
Here's all you need to do:
🐾 Donate — a blanket, cushion, towel, dog bed or kennel (new or used) to a shelter near you
📱 Share it & tag @justonething365 and @919fm . We'll reshare to inspire others to do the same. This isn't about bragging about doing good.
💛 Tag one person — a friend, colleague or business who will do the same.

On our way to the park, my girls (those two cuties in the back seat, snug in their jerseys) and I suddenly found ourselves in a confusing stretch of traffic along Beyers Naudé.
At first, it wasn’t clear what was happening and then we saw him - a frightened dogdo, darting across the road, disoriented and in danger of being hit but traffic.
A huge shoutout to Aimeè Baxter and CJ from @spca_randburg4 , who safely rescued this sweet stray. It was CJ’s very first rescue 🙌 — what a way to begin.
Aimeé literally put her life at risk BEFORE any cars stopped!
Grateful to the wonderful woman and the other driver who stopped their cars next to mine so we could block traffic.
I eventually pulled over to help - which is why I always keep my “just in case” turquoise bag in the car and it came in handy today - spare leads and collars, a towel and blanket, food and water (even makeshift bowls), plus tinned food and pellets for both dogs and cats. Over the years, so many strays have somehow found their way to me - it’s taught me to always be prepared.
Maybe that's something you could do as well?
Or maybe it's to just be on the lookout for ways to help.
What an honour it was to witness people who saw a vulnerable life and chose to stop, to care, and to act.

I chose anger for many years and still catch myself doing it when I witness injustice against someone, animal or human, who can’t fend for themselves. This shows up often in the animal welfare and charity space in my work with @justonething365 and our charity beneficiaries. .

Intruders? 😆 I do believe that birds (and the trees they nested in) were here before we came along. If anything, it is us that are the intruders.
It's so sad that humans have become so disconnected with nature.
Maybe that's an invitation for all of us - for 2026 - to reconnect with nature and the living BEings we share this planet with - animal and human alike.
