Same time last year, I made three goals for 2023: 1. Savor my 20s, 'cause honestly parties can wait👋 2. Dive into DJ-ing; 3. Summon the courage to start producing my own music.
"Summon" hits the nail on the head – that third goal freaked me out. With a classical piano background, all those electronic basics - DAW, MIDI, Synthesis, percussion, sound design, mixing, felt like a leap from my comfort zone. But I thought, "FU** it." At the end of August, I jumped into Ableton. 3 months flew by, I'm in a deep rabbit hole, exporting a finished track every 3-6 days (Nerd alert 🤓).
Staying true to myself fuels my creative process . I've taken an unconventional, raw, and honest approach to music production, letting me chase my feelings and turn them into something emotionally fulfilling musically.
Sure, I've been a bit shy about sharing my stuff/progress (thanks, Asian kid perfectionism gene 🧬🫡), but one step at a time, i still have lot more to do & learn. Hopefully soon, I'll have a different story to tell. 🎶
