Should you assist or go it alone? We asked career advisor and former agent @sabrina.sarl . Sabrina breaks down why a successful career is about more than having a strong portfolio. Understanding professional etiquette, building genuine relationships, and earning trust are skills that often matter more than your work when it comes to getting hired. Interview @justjerrij CD @mikeogorman_ DOP @matthewaland Beauty @lizziecheckley

Your portfolio isn’t just work, it’s your brand. We sat down with creative career advisor & former global photography agent @sabrina.sarl to talk all things portfolios, and what she looked for when signing artists. Here’s what stood out: ✦ Think of your portfolio as your brand identity. What makes your images distinctly yours? ✦ It’s a shop window, not a museum. Show what you’re most proud of and where you want to go. ✦ Always personalise your book for who you’re sending it to. One size does not fit all. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and turns out the research backs it up. Social comparison theory shows we naturally compare upwards on social media, and a meta-analysis of 70 studies links this to increased depression and anxiety. We’re literally wired to look at people we think are doing better than us, and social media gives us an endless feed of exactly that. But what really got me was the research on success itself. Studies show that moderately talented people with more luck consistently outperform highly talented people with average luck. Sociologist Robert Merton called it the “Matthew Effect” early advantages compound over time. Timing, location, resources, networks, family circumstances, these invisible factors play a massive role we systematically underestimate. So when you’re scrolling and feeling like you’re not enough? Remember: you’re comparing your reality to someone else’s highlight reel PLUS their invisible advantages. The playing field has never been level, and pretending it is just makes you feel worse about yourself. 2026 is the year I stop apologising for my pace and start focusing on what actually matters to me. Not the algorithm’s version of success. Mine. 💪❤️ with love P.S yes there are typos lol I’m only human. It’s 8pm on New Year’s Day and my brain is slowing down so forgive me for a not so perfectly curated slides, that’s dyslexia for ya 😬🫣

15 years of creating beautiful memories ✨ What a wild ride it’s been, from airports to sunsets to saying “I do” to my favourite travel buddy, now my husband. Here’s to the next 15 years in extraordinary places, with even bigger adventures and even fuller hearts. 💫🌍

We did it! Today we swam with whales! it felt like touching the impossible. 🐋✨ There’s something about sharing the ocean with such magnificent creatures that reminds you: life is bigger, wilder, and more beautiful than we often allow ourselves to believe. Building a life with a partner is like that too, not about rushing or having it all figured out, but about choosing courage, curiosity, and wonder together. It’s never too late to explore, to write new chapters, to protect what’s sacred, and to live in harmony with the world around us. Moments like this remind me why we keep going, to experience the extraordinary, and to honor the beauty of our planet. 🌍💙

The world offers itself in countless ways, through beauty, challenge, and truth. I am grateful for how these experiences shape who I was, who I am, and who I am becoming. Yet the deepest gratitude comes in sharing them with another, walking the path together, growing side by side, and finding strength, love, and joy in the journey.

Creating the most beautiful memories on our mini-moon. I still have to pinch myself sometimes, I feel so lucky to have met my soulmate and to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family. What an adventure it’s been so far, and the best part is knowing this is only the beginning of our next chapter together.
