A contemplation on forgiveness and compassion and how they are integral to peaceful presence. I’m thinking especially of my fellow artists who are constantly collaborating. Conflict is inevitable. Take a moment to rest in love. Take a cycle of breath to respond. Soften with the exhale. ❤️ join the soul food meditation call next Wednesday at 8am!

Calling ALL Creatives (hint: that’s all of us because creativity is our nature). If you are interested in joining with other artists Once a Week, for 30 minutes, to check in with our spirits and take a moment to meditate and be with the breath- then I invite YOU to join the Soul Food Channel (link in my bio). Let’s walk together 🫶🏾
Whether I’m chasing artistic rewards or running from artistic failure - the shared truth is that I’m running 🏃🏾 and less available to the present moment. Coming back to the breath helps me feel a sense of safety and contentment with what is happening here and now. I hope it helps you too. ❤️

A quick reset for your Monday! I know we are off to the races, but as that little turtle in the children’s story taught us “slow and steady wins the race” 🐢. Take a 30 second break from the grind to become aware of the breath again. Your body thanks you. 🙏🏾
Join the “Soul Food Weekly Meditation Call for Artists” channel on my page and commune and meditate with us for 30 minutes over zoom. 8am this Wednesday! ❤️
Got to revisit this tune that Mom always told me was a favorite of my grandparents, when I was growing up. I like to think they smilin down and slow dancin. ❤️
Damn Yankees at Arena Stage was a homecoming for me in many ways. Yes, in the literal sense, I had the absolute gift of performing in my hometown for the first time in my adult career. But also I felt like I really came home to my instincts/God who guides me and encourages me through ALL things. The process wasn’t always easy reviving an American classic, dancing our asses off, understudying and going on unexpectedly for the lead role (and learning so much nightly from the incomparable Jordan Donica), and constantly sitting down to tea with my feelings of doubt/anxiety and deciding to take up space and create and trust God and trust this AMAZING community of artists I was blessed to share space with everyday. I know professional experiences that also feed the soul like this one did are precious. Most of all, I feel like we were able to humbly offer up a serving of joy and were met night after night by audiences who were ready to receive and put smiles on our faces and in our hearts in return. Thank you @arenastage and @damnyankeesbroadway for this season of growth, creativity and most of all HEART. My cup runneth over.
