Inquest dates announced:
We have finally received confirmation about dates for the coronial inquest into Eimable’s passing. The inquest will run from Monday the 12th to Friday the 16th of October 2026 at the Coroners Court of Victoria, 65 Kavanagh St, Southbank VIC 3006. For inquest updates, please make sure you are following @justiceforeimable .
Fundraiser updates:
With your support, we have raised an incredible $5,093 to date to enable the loved ones of Eimable Manirakiza to travel interstate for his coronial inquest and directions hearings. We cannot thank you enough for your assistance to ensure that Eimable’s mum Benigne and his siblings can attend the inquest in person.
Our recent event, ‘Young, Black, Missing’ with Dr Amy McQuire and Martin Hodgson, raised a massive $1,443 in ticket sales. We also know that some of you made donations to our GoFundMe since the event, boosting our efforts by a further $1,354. We are so grateful for your generosity.
‘Young, Black, Missing’ featured an inspiring conversation with Dr Amy McQuire and Martin Hodgson of The Disappeared Project about race, missingness, policing and the coronial process. If you were not able to join us, you can watch the recording via the link in our bio.
Of the $5,093 raised so far, we have spent $2,519 to enable Eimable’s mum and brother to attend last year’s directions hearing. Remaining and future funds will be used to ensure that Eimable’s loved ones can be at the inquest in October, and to cover additional inquest-related costs.
Thank you again - we could not do this work without you.
What happens when a racialised person goes missing in Australia? Who is responsible for finding them and making sure that they're safe? How do the families and loved ones of missing persons navigate this incredibly difficult process? Who can they turn to for help on a system that is set up to fail them?
How do we resist this 'fatal indifference'?
Join us online from 1-2PM (AEST) on Thursday the 23rd of April for a conversation with @amymcquire_ and @martinghodgson from the @thedisappearedproject about race, missingness, policing and the coronial process.
'Young, Black, Missing' is a fundraiser for the loved ones of Eimable Manirakiza raising money to support them to attend his coronial inquest this year.
Get your tickets via the link in our bio. Pricing is tiered and attendance is free for First Nations and African Diaspora community members, and for families of missing persons.
We're sharing an update about our fundraising efforts and a renewed call to keep donations coming 💛
Thank you so much for all the support you've given to Eimable's family and loved ones, it really means the world.
Please keep chipping in as you're able and sharing our GoFundMe - the link is in our bio 🌻
Adeshola Ore has covered Eimable's story for the Guardian today with clarity and compassion. We hope you will all take a moment to read this piece before joining us at the Coroners Court of Victoria tomorrow morning for the directions hearing (meeting at 9:30AM for a 10AM start). Thank you Adeshola.

This is just a little post to do two things:
If you are new to Eimable's story, and want to know more about the background, you can go to the @finding.eimable page to read up, and understand the incredible community effort that was behind the search when he was missing. It is because of the support of community that Eimable is no longer missing. There is no quantifying the gratitude we, as Eimable's loved ones, feel for that.
If you are not new to Eimable's story, and are wondering why we're starting from scratch with a whole new insta, the short answer is that we had some technical difficulties accessing the @finding.eimable account.
In a happy *update*, team efforts have once again prevailed and we have now regained access to the @finding.eimable account.
We will continue to post new posts about the coronial process and community activities from @justiceforeimable , and we'll keep @finding.eimable primarily as an archive of that very difficult and love fuelled journey of our search for Eimable that so many of you came on the rollercoaster ride of with us back in 2021.
We acknowledge that not everyone who was with us for the journey of Eimable's missingness will be ready to be with us for the coronial process, and we are glad that we can also now offer all of you the opportunity to opt in for this next phase of the journey, within your capacity. We love you, we see you, and we thank you, for all that you do. 🙏🏾💖
Please join us from 9:30AM on Monday the 10th of November outside the Corners Court of Victoria, 65 Kavanagh Street Southbank before the directions hearing begins at 10AM.
Your presence on the day is deeply appreciated - let's come together and wrap our arms around Eimable's loved ones as they begin the coronial inquest process.

Hey, so here is the info on the court date in easily sharable format. Thanks for all that you do. Please check back for info on a community gathering around this court date. Love and hugs.
As of a couple of days ago this street art in honour of Eimable is still there. Still untouched after...at least a year. Maybe two? This is the cred our guy has still. Yes indeed. Always love. Eimable. If anyone knows who did this artwork, we'd love to know.
Pretty soon we'll have a few things to share about what's going on with the coronial process for Eimable.
For now, the main things to know are that the Coroner's Court has let Eimable's Mum know that they do intend to hold a coronial inquest regarding Eimable's passing. The dates for the inquest haven't been set yet, but there is a court date coming up.
At 10am on Monday 10th of November 2025, at the Coroner's Court in Southbank, on Kulin Country, there will be a 'Directions Hearing'.
A directions hearing is where the Coroner decides things like what the inquest will cover, who the witnesses will be and the dates it will be held.
Anyone who would like to can attend. Support from friends and community is very welcome. So please save the date of 10th November and follow this page for more info.
