I still canāt believe I got to do this. Iāve been around cars my entire life, but to take my own car out on a track like Poconoā¦just wow. I have SO much to learn, work on, and improve, but safe to say Iām hooked and youāll see me and the GRC out on track again soon š
If youāre considering a track day this year, what questions can I answer to convince you that you can do this too? š

One thing I underestimated about my first track day was how much the SMALL details affect your stress level.
None of these things are difficult individually.
But when youāre already nervous and processing a ton of information, little logistics suddenly feel way bigger than they should.
I think part of what makes a first HPDE feel overwhelming isnāt just the driving ā itās that EVERYTHING is new at once.
Where do I park?
Where do I register?
When do I need to be on track?
Did I prep everything on the car?
How does my coach talk to me?
Once youāve done one event, those things become second nature.
But the first time? Itās a lot.

An entire HOD track day in less than a minute š„ It flew by in real time, too.

This Instagram page might be new⦠but my car obsession definitely isnāt š
My first tuner was a 2005 supercharged Tiburon (6-speed obviously) and way before Instagram, TikTok, or even Facebook groups⦠@607motorsports started as a small local car club back in 2003.
We organized meets through online forums, blurry digital camera photos, and probably way too much influence from The Fast and the Furious š
Honestly, getting back into motorsports now through HPDE has been really cool because it reminds me that Iāve loved this stuff for a long time ā just in different forms over the years.
So now I need to knowā¦
What were you driving 20 years ago? š

One thing nobody prepared me for at my first track day was the mental overload.
I expected to be physically tired. I expected nerves. I expected adrenaline.
What I didnāt expect was just how much information my brain would be trying to process at once.
Learning the track layout. Watching flags. Remembering point-bys. Listening to coaching. Checking mirrors. Learning track etiquette. Figuring out shift points. Managing traffic. Trying to stay smooth. Trying not to overdrive the car. Trying not to embarrass myself š
And all of that is happening while driving faster and harder than you ever normally would on the street.
There was a moment during my first session where I genuinely felt mentally frozen in a technical section because I just didnāt know what to prioritize next.
And honestly? That was one of the most important lessons of the day.
Your first track day isnāt just physically demanding ā itās mentally demanding in a way thatās hard to explain until you experience it.
By the last session I could actually feel my focus starting to fade, and it made me realize how important self-awareness is in this environment. Thereās no shame in recognizing when your brain is just done processing input for the day.
The good news is things do start clicking faster than you think. Once I stopped expecting myself to immediately be āgoodā at everything and accepted that feeling overwhelmed was part of the process, I started learning so much faster.
If youāre preparing for your first HPDE: donāt judge yourself by how overwhelmed you feel at first. Thatās probably the most normal part of the entire experience š«¶
