*NEW ARTICLE* [Post-taste] Cabernet Cartel: An offer you can’t refuse? These are my reflections on a thoroughly original, ambitious and provocative tasting and conversation on what Robert Mann’s grandfather called “the only grape tolerated in heaven”. This event, masterminded by Rob’s partner in life and work @corymbiawine Gen Mann and supported by @winesofwa , was co-hosted by Rob and his great friend @julianlangworthy of @nocturne_sv_ and @deepwoodsestate . This complex wine—what surgeon, author and Hunter Valley vigneron Max Lake termed “the exquisite paradox’—offers so much to get your head and heart around. I think you’ll find a lot of it here, with wines from Wendouree, @chateaurauzansegla , @juniperwines , @foresthillwines , @yeringberg , Ansted & Osicka, Sassicaia, @wynnscoonawarra and @woodlandswines . You can read this for free on my Substack, where you can also listen to it if you’d prefer. Link in bio! As always, if you like what you find, please like, share, comment—it mightn’t seem like much, but it goes a long way to promoting originality, diversity and hope in our storytelling scene. Please click the link in the bio to listen. Enjoy! And thank you.

Cinco de Mayo was the perfect excuse to get together with our friends from all the other local wineries in the Margaret River region, at the Juniper Estate cellar door, and fire up the newly acquired record player.

And just like that, Juniper Estate viticulturist, Ianto Ward, and his team hand picked the last of the Cabernet Sauvignon fruit at our Wilyabrup vineyard. Thats a wrap on vintage 2026!

Thank you so much for joining us at our cellar door in Cowaramup on Friday evening for the final Woodfired Pizza Sundowner of this summer season. We take our hats off to Tom Hill, the big fella at the helm of Juniper, who made the round-trip from Perth for every sundowner event to put on a masterclass with the pizza paddle. Thank you to everyone who supported our kids’ fundraising efforts for The Black Cockatoo project! We’ve absolutely loved putting on these humble little get-togethers, and are grateful to have our wonderful local community’s support to do more of them in the future.
