[ 🎶concert ] Dans les années 90, nous étions pris d’une tendre rêverie en écoutant « There’s Nothing Like This ? » d’Omar. Ce tube planétaire a marqué toute une génération amatrice de Sade ou Terence Trent d’Arby. Adulé par Gilles Peterson ou Angie Stone, il est le père de la New Soul anglaise. En digne héritier de Stevie Wonder, @omar_lyefook aime les mélodies limpides, qu’il sert de sa voix suave avec un charisme exceptionnel. Se tenant à l’écart du monde médiatique, il compte définitivement pour le mouvement créé par D’Angelo. Il a d’ailleurs signé un titre avec la reine de la New Soul Erykah Badu, qui l’admire. Sa musique est une alliance inspirée de Hip-hop, Acid jazz et Soul, car ce mélomane averti connaît sa Motown. Depuis bientôt 40 ans, ce secret bien gardé secoue la scène indé britannique, lorsqu’il n’est pas en studio avec le rappeur Common ou Stevie Wonder en personne !
