It may not have been what we planned - but everything we needed. @newarksymphonyhall thank you for opening your door to us on such short notice. Everything we do since 2020 is for our community. Juneteenth didn’t go as I imagined it would this year, but I think it was a blessing in disguise. Through it all I learned a lot about myself and the people around me. The words that resonate with me are “Resilience” & “Support”. To be able to successfully pivot in 24hrs, and coordinate a monumental Block Party in the city that birthed & raised me meant so much. Being honest, before the event I was feeling like it was time to give up the JNJ brand. But my community really showed me just how much this means to them and how we have every reason to keep going. Glory to God. Year 5 is in the books!
