Wie prägen Umbrüche unser Leben? Die Ausstellung widmet sich Momenten des Wandels und versammelt 34 künstlerische Positionen. ✮ Meet the Team: Juness Beshir, Research Associate ✮ How do digital technologies influence your curatorial practice, and how do you engage with them consciously or critically? The digital condition can hardly be separated from the curatorial; it shapes the production, presentation, mediation, and reception of art. Both the use and the critique of the digital inform my curatorial projects, raising the question each time anew: does the digital itself become the subject, or does it just function as a useful tool with all its problematic aspects? What currently occupies you in your engagement with digital media? How does this show in your practice? I am interested in the philosophical foundations of the digital. As technologies are based on binary codes that constrain human perception into narrow patterns, I wonder what slips through this rigid grid: What shades and nuances, what sensations and ephemeral qualities cannot be transmitted digitally? And with what consequences for curatorial practice? What does (Un)Learning Digitalities mean to you? I think of (Un)Learning Digitalities as an ongoing task: to recognize the entanglements of the digital in everyday life, to learn new modes of relating, and to unlearn what is taken for granted. What is your role within the (Un)Learning Digitalities team? As a research associate, I conduct research on actors in the field, develop concepts for digital teaching tools, organize events such as the Evening Lectures or the symposium at HALLE 14 together with my transdisciplinary team, and take care of the documentation and evaluation of the entire program. I‘m especially looking forward to the release of the concluding publication at the end of the program in summer 2026. What has been a highlight of the program for you so far? 𑁍ࠬܓ Join us tomorrow for this public and free 🌀SYMPOSIUM: COSTS OF (DIS)CONNECTING 🟣Date: 5 December 2025 > Venue: HALLE 14 – Centre for Contemporary Art, Spinnereistr. 7, 04179 Leipzig Digital connections have long been sold to us as an unalloyed good: seamless, frictionless, universal. Yet the infrastructures that knit us together are also infrastructures of extraction, dispossession, and psychic attrition. To connect is to pay—with attention, with intimacy, with the disassembly of common worlds. To disconnect is likewise costly, casting individuals into isolation, precarity, or invisibility.
 The program brings together diverse practitioners examining how digital technologies shape memory, imagination, and power. Internet folklore and myth in emerging systems are explored by Günseli Yalcinkaya, while Shumon Basarreflects on the psychic toll of the feed and the Axis of Posting. Decolonial technological imaginaries come forward in Mark Mushiva’s contribution. With Daily Disobedience, Shusha Niederberger and Heiko Schmid use glitches and refusals to challenge digital compliance. Franziska von Hasselbach situates Cyprien Gaillard’s Retinal Rivalry within shifting gallery roles, and in a speculative workshop-performance, Orhun Mersin (kekik) and Yağmur Uçkunkaya queer machine-learning architectures through practices of unlearning and dragging the latent. The program extends through films by Gala Hernández López, Lydia Marx, and Alex Bartsch. The symposium is organized as part of (Un)Learning Digitalities at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig with Prof. Anna Ehrenstein, Photography in the Field of Contemporary Art class, the Büro für Digitale Lehre (Eliza Goldox, Juness Beshir and Fabian Lehmann), and will take place on December 5 at HALLE 14 – Center for Contemporary Art. The project is co-financed by the European Union and co-financed by tax revenues based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
