🚨 We are so proud to have gone out on a high with our last event being a fundraiser for the fantastic North Devon Hospice. A huge thanks to everyone involved, especially Stephen Roberts and Jimmy Woodger who worked so tirelessly on the day and in planning. Big thanks to the JCT27 team, Burger Factory R&R, Stop The Moats, Harry Wallace, Nettlebed and the numerous amazing DJs that all donated their time and skills to help make a fantastic day and awesome atmosphere. Thanks to all you amazing supporters we raised £1,016.80 💰

It is with profound and regrettable sadness that we announce today that JCT27 will be closing with immediate effect. This is not a decision we have taken lightly nor a position we had ever hoped to find ourselves in. We had one steadfast mission that continued to guide us through inception to today - to bring live music and entertainment of all genres and levels to Barnstaple. Unfortunately the current climate in hospitality and the night time economy is extremely difficult and rising costs coupled with declining footfall has made it untenable for the business to continue in its current format. Increases in business rates, VAT, PRS/PPL and electricity have been the biggest culprits and levy an unworkable weight and pressure on all small/medium independent businesses right now, with the live music sector suffering particularly heavily. We add into that the declining footfall and ticket sales, no doubt in no small part due to the ever increasing cost of living, and you have a perfect storm for businesses such as JCT27. We take with us the memories of some fantastic nights and amazing gigs. Artists the likes of which we have been extremely lucky and grateful to have secured to grace our stage. The JCT27 team has worked tirelessly to deliver night after night of amazing gigs and outstanding service - we are proud to call them colleagues and even more than that, to call them friends. We thank each and every one of our customers that have supported us and can only humbly apologise that we cannot continue to offer you the amazing times that JCT27 has become known for. It truly is a sad state of affairs when JCT27 becomes the third live music venue in less than a year to close in Barnstaple and with that we would urge everyone to support our remaining live music venues and grass roots artists whenever and wherever you can. British music is arguably the best in the world and without these springboard platforms at grass roots level we will be left with a very baron musical landscape indeed.
