🚨Announcement🚨 With the permission of my teacher, I will be launching tabla lessons for all abilities effective immediately. This has been something I have been planning to do for a while but have not had time with busy schedules. As mentioned above: I am both DBS and NQT certified, giving me government level clearance to educate students and children. This is a fantastic opportunity for yourself/someone you know to develop a skill in the art form of tabla. A very old yet pure tradition. Students will: - Learn from the Punjab and Delhi schools of music - Learn a syllabus driven by Ustad Allarakha Khan, Ustad Faiyyaz Khan, Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain Khan and Ustad Shahbaz Hussain - Have the opportunity for both Face to Face and Online lessons - Students will develop in several areas of classical music (solo repertoire and accompaniment) and light classical music (ghazal/fusion/thumri/dadra) whether it be at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level There are limited spaces available for this cohort so please enquire now through the email address provided or do send me a DM. A tribute to the late, great Ustad Zakir Hussain. Nearly 6 months on from his departure from this world, I still feel myself second guessing reality. For months I wanted to pay a small tribute to ustadji but couldn’t find the words or even bring myself to play anything. After these many weeks, I humbly present a shorter clip than usual playing a beautiful gatt created by Ustad Zakir Hussain, modified from Ustad Allarakha Khansaab’s original composition. Fun fact for those who do not know: as well as being a performer, I am also a teacher. I’ve always kept that side hidden but it truly is something to be proud of: to give 100% to two very different crafts and try to be the best you can. I always remind students that beyond the school and education, being creative and having passions is so important. I’d like to say that l’m living testament to the fact that you can work and professionally develop, whilst conquering goals and aspirations. Essentially, there’s always time to follow your dreams...
