WHAT TO DO WHEN THE WORLD STOPS
The strike has certainly done that for a lot of artists. But instead of panicking I bunker down and start getting my act together. New photos coming soon. New graphic design for my website and a trailer “reel” to remind me that I have a long road ahead of me. I’m not done yet. So much more to accomplish.
Surround yourself with creative people with a great attitude. Serve a purpose greater than your own. I personally look to enlighten anyone who is beginning or driven filmmakers who want to experience acting on a whole other level. But I too learn from all of them as well. Truth be told. I come out winning for keeping an open mind and strong loving heart.
Thank you to my dream director Ryan Polly for always reminding me why I became an actor. And FYI, he doesn’t do actor reels. @ryan_polly

In honor of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Looking back to a surreal moment in my film career.
I spent four months living and breathing real ranch work. I entered Tommy’s life and he put me through the grind. I couldn’t delineate between myself the actor or Melquiades the ranch hand. The more I just gave in to what I was doing on the ranch just trying to get in an honest days work the better I felt. I even was away from my own family truly missing them. Acting was no longer acting. Just be. Tommy would take a few of us out on horseback especially when scouting out spots. He would turn to me and watch me. The way I held the reins in my hand. The way I sat on his Uncle’s horse BLUE BIRD. The way my boots hung on the stirrups. He even told me to ride at a gallup while looking behind me and then mimick pulling out a gun or rifle and shoot. He said these are things you have to work on in case you’re ever asked to do it for camera.
I have tons of stories with Tommy. I know people find him to be difficult. But as long as we spoke Spanish to each other, we were just fine and we became real good amigos.

During our round table interviews with journalists from around the world, one of the dumbest questions came from a reporter asking Tommy if he felt more at home on a horse or at a Hollywood party. Tommy answered he doesn’t know what a Hollywood party is. So many smart questions but the more vapid and sensational ones always get the most attention.
Our official Photo Call moment was filled with glee and fulfillment. We were not taking ourselves too serious. You can tell by the documentary. And I loved that because most people see the film has a serious theme and assumed we reflected that sentiment. The subject matter warrants deep discussion but as actors, our writer of cinema and our director really are funny and lively. I spent countless hours with Barry and Tommy Lee. I got to see sides of Tommy most have never seen. He’s funny as hell and corny too. He told so many bad jokes after hours by the fire pit. I miss those countless moments during filming.
Again all surreal but real in these moments.

We were having a fun time. Tommy wasn’t nervous he was hyper focused. The rest of us were enjoying the ride. At one point I remember looking at Tommy and I said, “We got the wrong memo, maybe we shouldn’t have worn black.” It did make him laugh especially since he was styling a tan suit.

Looking back…just surreal.

I couldn’t help myself. I don’t give awards too much meaning but it’s a cathartic moment for everyone. You get validated by a racket. Millions get spent to promote a film for the Oscars. It’s a fraud but I get it. A necessary evil? Either way it doesn’t diminish the hard work by so many in front of and behind the camera. And of course if you win, you thank your mother. So, to all moms, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

My travels around the world on film sets have allowed me to explore so much. On days off I venture out on the street and try to connect with what’s in front of me. It forces me to stay present and gain perspective. On my working days on sets,I take in the make believe world that’s been created for us. It’s a complete playground that affects my performance.
My camera is my drug. It keeps me sane.
