👠 The Devil Wears Prada 2, Look 1: Always Morphing #essiepartner Inspo: The Signature Shade: A Dark, Mercurial Tone When Emily and I sat down together to talk about her character, the question that kept coming up was simple - what nail would Emily Charlton wear 20 years later? In the original The Devil Wears Prada, she lived in deep, jewel-toned nail colors: metallic aqua, navy blue, and deep purple. But the fashion CEO she’s become deserved something more nuanced. Emily and I explored dozens of shades, layering, custom mixing dark purples, smoky charcoals, mid-tone greys. We landed at a shade that was perfect right out of the bottle: @essie Always Morphing. A deep, near-black brown with the softest shimmer threaded through it, that catches the light and gives us a little contrast against everything she wears. ✨ The shape evolved too - a medium length almond this time, longer, more thought out- the kind of nail that feels at home alongside Dior and haute couture. It was the perfect moody neutral to be our hero shade. 🥀 Get the essie look: 1. Prep the nail by manicuring using ready. prep. go. Allow 15 seconds, push back with a cuticle pusher and rinse off with soap and water 2. Apply Here To Stay base coat to the bare nail and allow to dry 3. Apply 2 coats of Always Morphing and allow to dry 4. Top coat with Gel Setter Topcoat 5. The most perfect crystal nails for @camilamorrone today 🍓 Zero retouching. Not even to bump up the lighting. I started by removing her dip nails using @ericasata carbide bits in fine, then soaked the rest off in 100% acetone so that Cami’s nail plates stayed perfectly healthy and zero filling touched them. Deeply hydrated to finish with @lamer 🦪 Last week I talked to so many people who all said gel ruined their nails. And guess what? EVERY ONE admitted to improper removal (mostly peeling them off themselves). Come on girls!! Gel doesn’t cause damage when applied and removed properly ✨💅🏼
