“Like weak prey torn open, I have bared my innermost, hidden pulse to my killer.”
Phedre, this beautiful monster is one of the most challenging characters I ever had to birth.
Come along on this epic journey with me as I portray Phedre at the Network Theatre in Waterloo. Tix are in my bio. Phedre is a monumental French play that benefits from Ted Hughes' engaging translation. The Queen of Athens, Phedre, grapples with her uncontrollable passion for her stepson and her overwhelming sense of guilt. The play poses fundamental questions about the tension between public duty and private desire, and the interplay between fate and free will.
My directorial debut David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Proof opens in exactly 1 month‼️ 🥳😬🤪🫣🤩
I first read this play about 20 years ago and I instantly fell in love with it. Then 10 years ago I was lucky enough to play its protagonist Catherine so this is a play I know very well but it’s very exciting to approach it as a director and still discover new nuances. We have an amazing cast who absolutely blow me away at every rehearsal and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
