Over in my substack I shared a chatty, slower flip thru of the sketchbook I brought to Italy earlier this month. Link in profile for that version- #sketchbook #flipthru #watercolor #travelsketchbook
Sketches in two books- one I’ve been using to do value studies on a gesso coated page with a basic pencil and the other I may have pushed too far- I think it’s worth it to push something past the point of ‘done’ to see what else might be possible! With this paper I was able to pull some back out which helped! #sketchbookpractice #stillmanandbirnmixedmedia #landacapepainting
Enjoying sketching from the photos of my trip and getting back into my larger sketchbooks with ALL OF THE materials #mixedmedia #watercolor #landscapepainting #sketchbookpractice
Back home and reflecting on our trip to Italy for a mid-month substack post. Thanks for your patience and likes as I shared a bazillion pics in my stories. One thing I didn’t share as much was the more modern (using this term broadly) art we saw and some of the art that really caught my eye. In addition to all of the other amazingness that is Italy of course. The highlight pic and a bunch of pics in the post are from a @wujian_an exhibit at the Temple of Diocletian. Want to be sure to give credit… amazing show and space. Sharing more art specific content on Substack! See link in profile #artist #substack #italianart #modernart
Ciao tutti! If you’ve been following along in my stories (a blitz of pics for family and friends) I’m in Italy for a few weeks! Packed minimal supplies, and cut half of the pages out of a small sketchbook. I’m loving it- doing lots of sketching and sharing one in the second slide 🍷🍝🌅⛪️ #travelsketchbook #travelinitaly #florenceitaly #boboligardens
Sharing March painting progress over on Substack! I’m at 85 paintings and slowly heading toward the final 15. I read a post about how your moon sign is reflected in who you are and as a Sagittarius moon I felt seen. Particularly around how a challenge like this ‘works’ for me. Shared a link to that in this months post too. 🌖🌑🌔
It’s a little different that the recent most beach scenes.. I started painting on yupo paper this month because a paper order was delayed and I’ve enjoyed the challenge and brighter approach! #yupopaper #oilpainting
