JUKEBOX is a space to party, get drunk, have fun, hear the best new bands, be queer, be straight, be loud, make friends, find love?, find community, and chat sh*t in the smoking area✨
Let’s start the new year right - JUKEBOX 003 is a fundraiser for the MATW Project, where six emerging artists take the stage at Grow, Hackney Wick on the 4th of February from 7:00pm. Come for the music, stay for the community and support the cause🖤✨🍉
£5 or £7 on the door✨ optional to donate more
2025 started rolling out my project “Am I Pretty Enough?” something I worked on tirelessly with Christian and all my talented friends. I’m incredibly grateful, but also a bit disappointed with the reach as I truly believe the music is great. This EP was a really important step forward. I felt stuck with the direction my music was heading and this became the perfect transition from indie/pop into this rock/folk world I’m obsessed with. We sold out our London show around this project, which made everything feel so right (if you came, I love you)✨
This was followed by a breakup, which was really fkn hard to be honest. Luckily, I had just started building my studio. That changed everything, I poured all I was feeling into doing that job as well as I possibly could with the funds and resources I had. It was nothing but healing. I’m so grateful for this space and the memories made here. Huge love to Cat for being a great friend, trusting me, offering new perspectives and helping bring these things to life🖤
JUKEBOX, on paper, was a total financial disaster — but I tried my best to pay talent as fairly as possible while keeping it accessible. For anyone who doesn’t know: original bands (3–6 players) in grassroots venues are often paid £50–£150 TOTAL, while DJs can show up with a USB and pocket £150–£1000. JUKEBOX will never be about profit. I’m just funding a well curated party to build a real community of music lovers. WORTH IT✨
If I’m honest, I’m sitting on a great album of music but too many know-nothing gurus telling me what the “right” thing to do has slowed me down. No idea why I was listening to strangers but I’ve now said fk all of that, found an incredible group of guys who want to gig as much as I do, booked a tour, and I’m doing this my way.
I’ve spent 12 years learning, failing, and trying again. Classical & Jazz school. Trad. Writing. Production. Mixing. Arranging. MD’ing. Live events. My priority has always been to build a sustainable world where I can make music MY WAY — for myself and my friends — based on skill and knowledge, not insane industry rules that say you need £3–5k to make ONE song. Absolutely not.
