Scrap weaving project !! I found this wooden board on the side of the road, brought it home, gave it a good scrub (it had a questionable yellow tinge) and got to work using up some of my leftover acrylic yarn. Weaving is brilliantly relaxing, I highly recommend! Of course I ran out of yarn near the end, but hoping the navy / green looks intentionally groovy? Pls say yes The board is too heavy to hang on a wall so it is currently propped up on my bookshelf ! Will be lurking around rubbish piles to find some smaller scraps of wood so I can make some more versions!! Stay tuned !! #weaving #craftinspiration #crochet #knitting #scrapyarn

New crochet hat !!! 😁😁🎩 I have been OBSESSED with sailor hats recently (take a look at the brilliant @salt__hats and you’ll see why) and have been absolutely desperate to have a go at making myself one !! I worked this up with leftover DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook, which created the perfect slightly stiff, structured hat !! This was such a fun little project - it worked up super quickly and the stripes made it so addictive (silly little brain likes pretty colours). Already planning all the different colour combinations I could try !! Would love to write up a pattern so I can share this funky little hat with you all this spring/summer 🤠🤘🏻 #crochet #crochethat #crochetsailorhat #sailorhat #crochetinspo

The Hessle Hat !! 🧢🧢 (pattern available now yippee!) It is a simple trapper-style hat, with ear folds and i-cord ties. It is ideal if you fancy changing up your beanie/bonnet/hood rotation !!!! Made with chunky yarn, it works up very quickly - plus it is the perfect opportunity to use up some of that chunky yarn you bought when you first started crocheting and haven’t touched since (come on now, we are all the same) x Experience level: Intermediate crocheters. Techniques used: The two main stitches used are ‘Slip Stitch Ribbing’ and ‘Single Crochet Ribbing’. It also uses i-cord edging and i-cord ties techniques. Recommend yarn: 150g of West Yorkshire Spinners Re:Treat Chunky (100g/140m/153yds). Hooks: 5.5mm hook (a second hook is helpful for the i-cord edging) Sizes: One adult size, suitable for both men and women. #crochet #crochethat #TheHessleHat #crochettrapperhat #trapperhat

Swipe to see the progress of my first ever upholstery project !! 🍋‍🟩🍋‍🟩 I bought this chair for £15 off of FB Marketplace. It was in pretty grim condition, someone had quite literally painted grey paint onto the fabric. Originally I just bought it because I liked the style and could see its potential (literally thought it was like John Lewis or something LOL) but after I started removing its layers, I quickly realised this was a much older piece. A little bit of research later and it turns out it was a Victorian nursing chairs (1800s). Suddenly my first ever upholstery project had a lot more pressure on me not to fuck it up lol I tried my best reuse as many components as I could salvage plus keep my methods in line with the traditional techniques. Although, I am certainly not a professional restorer and I did do some cheats along the way - see the metal T plate I used to stabilise the wobbly arms (rather than fucking around with wooden dowels and glue). I opted for this plain green fabric - it is definitely a sensible (boring) choice but I was so hung up on picking a groovy pattern that I realised patterns are often a little less timeless / flexible in the long run (and given the time I’ve spent on this chair I do plan on having it for a very long time) !! I also hoped the colour would make the dark wooden legs pop! This was possibly the most addictive project I’ve worked on for a long time - I’d love to work on some more pieces in the future (although there is only so many armchairs a girl can have). Hope ya like xxxxxx #upholsteredfurniture #upholstery #upholsteredarmchair #diy #diyupholstery #memade #upholsteredchair #upholster #upholsteryproject

Crochet tote bag for Lou! I made the individual rectangles from cotton yarn from my stash. I constructed a plastic canvas shell (made slightly larger so the outer layer could be pulled taut) to give it some structure. Finally, I made a quick lining (using some secondhand fabric from my stash) which I hand sewed along the top edge. And of course, as with any handmade birthday present, it was given a month and a half late Wahey !! 🫡 #crochet #crochetbag #crochetinspo #crochetpresent #crochetlove #crochetersofinstagram #handmade #handmadepresents #memade

My hand-embroidered octopus jacket! 🦑 I’ve been a little quiet on here the last 3 months as I’ve been off backpacking #gapyarh ! Upon realisation that most of my knitting projects would be unsuitable for my backpack/the heat I had to rethink other ways to get my creative fix whilst I was away. I decided to go for an embroidery project!! I haven’t ever really embroidered much before, so of course I had to design the largest piece I possibly could (8 legs was rather ambitious in hindsight). I embroidered onto a navy chore jacket that I bought from a charity shop probably 7+ years ago, using white 100% cotton thread. It has been so nice to have a little time off of social media, but of course I’ve missed out on this lovely knitting/crochet/sewing community. Desperately need to catch up with all of your creations. Making myself my dream handbag from scratch!! After attending one of their in-person shoe making workshops last year, the team over at @icanmake_bags very kindly gifted me this at-home bag making kit !! I picked my leather and hardware (and I cheekily asked if I could have a little more leather for a longer cross-body strap). The kit included all the leather, lining and hardware (plus a full video tutorial to watch), then I just needed a leather hole punch and some leather glue. I am SOOOO happy with my final bag, I have never been much of a handbag girly (literally had the same handbag for the last 8 years loll) but genuinely could just stare at this bag for hours - I am in love! Super pleased with the leather I picked too, it is such a gorgeous shade and has such a lovely texture that gives it a bit of character (despite it effectively being brand new)!! The adjustable strap was my own little hack to the pattern (originally a shorter shoulder strap). I am a cross-body bag girl through and through 💪🏻✊🏻 so this gives me the option to either shorten the strap for a #youngandtrendy shoulder bag or lengthen it to get my go-to, practical (although perhaps slightly middle-aged) cross-body bag !! Basically 2 bags in 1 !!!!!!!! Wahey !!!! Gifted #sewing #handmade #handmadehandbags #memade #memadewardrobe #memadeeveryday #handbag #sewinghandbags #sewingproject

The Hyde Hood - (Tunisian) Crochet Pattern - is finally LIVE!! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙 (and currently with 40% off on my Etsy for the next 3 days 🫡) It is designed for intermediate crocheters but it is suitable for those new to Tunisian crochet specifically! There are three length options available (this is Size 3), and it is worked with DK weight yarn and a 6mm Tunisian crochet hook. These hoods have been such a fun project to work on over the last few months!! It is the perfect travel-friendly project, smallest enough to squeeze in a bag and with enough repeating sections that requires minimal actual pattern reading. Added bonus is that the stitch makes the cleanest stripes, making it absolutely perfect for using up some of your scrap yarn - just like this little scrap number I’ve made for a friend! Enjoy legends !!!!!!!!!!!! 🫡 #TheHydeHood #crochet #tunisiancrochet #crocheting #crocheting #crochethood #crochetpattern #tunisiancrochetersofinstagram #tunisiancrochethood
