Our inn here in Tucson, AZ has come a long way since we bought it back in 2018! After sitting abandoned for a decade, bringing it back to life was a true labor of love. Seeing this historic space filled with life makes it all worth it though. 𫶠Oh and, we have some exciting new additions in store for our guests in 2024!đŤ
To our guests: you inspire us.
To the 80-somethings who had never been to the desert before but decided to come and explore. You give us hope for the new places and hobbies we might find someday that we donât even know about yet.
To the new parents that brought their baby with them even though that first trip postpartum felt scary. You remind us that being parents doesnât mean we stop living for ourselves too.
To the solo traveler that brought just a guitar. You inspire us to keep creating, and to not wait for anyone else to do it.
We are so lucky to host you all. Thank you for trusting us for so many firsts. đľđ§Ą

Creating something new sometimes feels like the only thing worth sharing, so we stop ourselves from coming on here when it feels like weâre in maintenance mode. But, so much of our time and energy goes into keeping things just as they are, so⌠here are some of those places. Just as they are in the magic of spring in the desert. The land is waking up, and so are our gardens. We call this growing season, not just for the plants, but for us too. Itâs when we feel most creative. Watching prickly pear paddles duplicate overnight while mesquite trees flush bright green, and vines stretch a little further all while knowing the desert will soon be covered in blooms⌠well, itâs the best. đľđ¸ (videos at the end are from this week for current bloom status if youâre visiting soon!)
Our inbox has been full of wedding dreams lately, so we wanted to share a few of the beautiful celebrations that have taken place here at the inn. đľđ¤â¨
Itâs such an honor to witness these momentsâquiet vows under the saguaros, long rooftop dinners with everyone you love, slow and intimate celebrations immersed in nature. â¨
If youâre dreaming up something in the desert, weâd love to hear about it. All kinds of love are welcome here.

so excited to return to the beautiful @jthtucson to teach folks from all over the world how to make paint from dirt, stones, tree sap, and honey this March 28th and 29th â¨đľđ
if youâve been wanting to let go of screens and find a hand made creative practice in relationship with the land, this workshop is for you. we will learn how to gather in ways that honor the earth, how to make fine art pigments from sand and stones, and how to make archival biodegradable paint from the land.
the workshop is open to all backgrounds, from fine artists looking to stop using petroleum based microplastics in their paint to beginners who have never before picked up a paint brush. all are welcome, come as you are.
this workshop is at @jthtucson , a historic inn beautifully restored by @saracombs and @richcombs of @thejoshuatreehouse . their mission is to create spaces that reconnect us with nature and the inn is surrounded by the wonder of the cacti forest of Saguaro National Park. Iâm so honored to teach in this beautiful place and hope youâll join us as we learn this alchemy of transforming rock to dust to paint đ¤˛đťđđľ

As the year winds down, weâre thinking about all the mornings, swims, conversations, and quiet nights that happened here. The workshops and retreats. The weddings and engagements. The artist residency!
Thank you for making this place feel alive in all the right ways.
Wishing you a gentle ending and a meaningful beginning. â¨
