hello posters: casual reminder that β¨πLocally Realπβ¨, my latest zine, is available via the link in my bio or my website jessrhodes.com
It's a spiral-bound, 60 page attempt to grapple with reality through the lens of quantum entanglement, the double slit experiment, the observer effect, and the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics. A true cautionary tale to anyone pulling the thread of a hyper-fixation.
Thank you so much to everyone that grabbed a copy already, and double thank you to everyone that has sent kind words or constructive critique my way. The general consensus is that it's a total and complete surprise, in the best way or for all its faults...so check it out, see for yourself, and let me know. π
my Auntie Velma passed last week at age 100. when she planned her 100th birthday party, she said it was a great feeling and she'd been waiting 100 years for the opportunity. (this year she had planned for an Elvis impersonator.)
she was my grandmother Melba's twin sister, and the last living of 13 Smith children. born in Arkansas, they grew up in a farming community in north Texas during the dust bowl and she was still doing everything for herself right til the very end.
she loved god and her family and fried chicken, and she loved to tell stories. she loved to cook, sew, quilt, arrange flowers, garden, and make crafts for everyone she knew. i hope to be a quarter as kind and interesting as she was by the time i'm half her age.
every year we'd ask her what the secret is to her health and happiness, she'd say "listen to your doctor, take your pills and do your best."
