Ran as fast as I could to keep up with Cantopop retro run with Midnight Runners along Victoria Harbour 🏃♀️
Ate delicious dim sum at Old Fung Tea House and Dim Sum Here (it was so good I also ate a little of someone else’s dim sum 🙈) 🥟
Flew through the sky on a Ngong Ping cable car ride 🚠
Marvelled at Tian Tan Buddha, Lantau Island
Was wowed by Lee Bul and Chiharu Shiota at M+
Wandered along WestK waterfront at night
Took the Peak tram 🚃 and hiked up Victoria peak
Was stunned by Tibetan post rock band 天聲TATION at Tai Kwun
Swam and hiked Chueng Chau Island 🏝️ (I’m now at the airport in sandy socks 🧦)

I started making REPLICAS a decade ago with the strange idea to recreate relationships in dance form based solely on text message exchanges. 3 brave couples signed on to let me read their messages, and REPLICAS was born. 10 years later @younglungsdance gave me the opportunity to recreate the work with a new cast. It was exciting and challenging and pretty scary and totally joyful to get to work with these 6 performers:

REPLICAS is touring to Canada nearly a decade after it premiered @sirf_stockton in 2016.
I got to work with an absolutely smashing group of creatives to develop this work, from the original R&D cast Harriet Bone, @lloydy09 , Ian Parsons, Leah Marojevic, Luke Divall, @lewiswilkins88 to the 2016 cast with @rosiemacari , @onemanvann Natalie-Jane Trewinnard, @louiseannewong , Christina Lynn Blackwell, Paul Harman, and composer @portiagravescomposer , costume designer @northernthreadscostume , creative technologists @innercitydigital to the brave couples who agreed to (anonymously) share their emails and text messages with me.
REPLICAS draws inspiration from the text and email exchanges between real couples at different stages in their relationships. These digital conversations became the foundation for a series of dance duets that pose questions about our relationship with technology and each other.
