We have been giving small updates on YouTube on Eggplant V2 and this will be featured at length on the newest video so if you have not been there, hit that link in the bio and subscribe!
Got it on the dyno today for
@jrtuned to dial in the
@haltech Nexus S3 ecu and for those who have not seen, we have set this up with an Ej20x. Yes the $1000-$1500 20xs you see people poorly swap into their GR WRXs and Legacys not only because it was cheap, but being a Dual AVCS engine, and high compression, I knew this would be a great candidate for E85 and a nice big juicy Rotated setup which unfortunately the people using these do not have the intention of ever doing so.
Totally stock EJ20x from ebay, we did not open it up other than upgraded IAG Timing Tensioner & Belt and add some timing guides, since they do not have any being they are mostly found in automatics and an upgraded oil pick up. Otherwise, original bottom end, original headgaskets, head bolts, heads, cams, etc running a plethora of parts we had laying around. Only new parts I purchased for this car other than the oil pickup & timing components is the ETS Max Flow Header & FIC 2150s, everything else were an accumulation of parts we had in storage bins from random parts outside etc
The rotated turbo kit is from JRs old 9 second Forester. The turbo, a Garrett GTX3576R has sat in bins from a part-out from years ago. The Aeromotive brushless pump was seized and made to work by smacking it with a hammer. Clutch might have been from OG Eggplant. The fmic a Turbo XS unit off a 2019 WRX.
I had zero intentions of sinking big money until this was set up ECU wise, hence the 20x as the sacrificial lamb. But we did not expect how well this would perform today.
Started out slow at about 340whp, each pull it gained and gained and left it right at 662whp & 518wtq, 40psi, not a drop of coolant pushed, zero blow by out of the catch can. This 2.0 loves to spin, 80+ psi oil pressure at 8k rpm.
With an upgraded intake manifold and good Intercooler core, I think we can comfortably touch 700whp. Time to button up some things and maybe make some shake down passes before we start pulling weight and building the block and heads!
