“Pirello’s painterly gesture is a body in motion, a hand that follows waves of pigment, leaving traces of collisions, overlaps and dissolutions. The colors are not decoration but an emotional framework: tones that layer, intermingle and wear away, expressing the speed with which social relationships change, the ores of time and individual resistance in the face of advancing modernity.” ~ Manuela Annamaria Accinno of @whitehotmagazine

Jenna Pirello uses storms and natural forces as a way of processing contemporary life. Through the sensation of weather: its sudden shifts, its gathering pressure ~ she captures a collective unease: the saturated atmosphere of the digital age, the relentless churn of information, and the ambient dread of a world that feels perpetually on the edge.

Sleeper waves are sudden, unforeseen coastal surges that often follow periods of calm. Caused by distant storms, they arrive without warning and rush much farther up the beach than preceding waves. In this body of work, named after the phenomenon, Jenna Pirello uses storms and natural forces as a way of processing contemporary life. Through the sensation of weather-its sudden shifts, its gathering pressure-she captures a collective unease: the saturated atmosphere of the digital age, the relentless churn of information, and the ambient dread of a world that feels perpetually on the edge.
