Yes, I know it's on Memorial Day, but I don't give a shit about it landing on that day. If you're in town, come hang out and get some Joy. If you're out of town, share some kindness with people you encounter, and let's brainstorm ways to help the families of deceased veterans and those left permanently scarred by their time in the war machine. Vets have largely been left to twist in the wind by the same government that took their youths, and often their sanity, mobility, health, and lives.
END ALL WARS NOW.
We have to create and sustain the support systems we need. It's us, y'all. We save us.

On May 30th, @paddyleague and I will host another evening of songs, solidarity, and proof that music keeps our history alive. No gerrymandered district, no data center, no billionaire can keep us from singing, talking, learning, and remembering... together.
If you feel helpless, pissed off, confused, and hopeless DO NOT ISOLATE.
Do not give up, or turn your face away. Come hear some amazing music in Community. Introduce yourself to folks. Bring info on your favorite resources and share them. Remember that you are not alone, and that when we sing together, our hearts begin to sync.
Together is the way forward, and it starts with you showing up.

The community we've been building for over a year and a half has been a true anchor and source of purpose for me as an artist and human. I'm so grateful to @katina_p_d for lifting up our raucous, heart filled corner of humanity.

I can't go live on this profile so I'll probably do it on my personal one, but I figured tonight was a time where we should try to remind ourselves that simple joy is a human right. The times are darker than I've ever known them, which means the light of each of our individual candles is more precious than ever. Don't just isolate, seek out your community. Remember that there are tiny joys that add up to the true beauty of life. These bastards that toy with millions of lives, against the sanctity of nature, want to rob us of peace and Hope.

This coming Monday, Joy Deficit blazes its way back on to the Red Light Cafe stage.
It's an evening of live performances dedicated to chaotic good, and the only thing missing is you! The roster changes every month, and each Act is about 5 to 7 minutes long.
I run a space that is aggressively friendly and built to help recharge you in the face of horrifying times. Community isn't just a buzzword, it's the desperately needed bedrock we all must cultivate for survival and respite. It's wild, and weird, and fun, and the room is full of other weirdos that want to say hi.
