Thank you again to the @bessieawards for this nomination! I am so proud of this character that I made. JoyBoy has given me so much… it brought me back my joy of performing, led me to a community of collaborators and artists who are very very dear to me, and allowed me to tell stories that advocate for performers that work in this tough entertainment industry. I made JoyBoy and “Farewell My Fool” with me and my community in mind. I’m so happy that so many people shared how much they relate to JoyBoy and this clown’s struggle to achieve success, affirmation, and success as a performer. This is so cool to me, especially my younger self. Dreams do come true ya’ll. Shoutout to my collaborators: @triskelionarts @annaissupercool @rach_mckinstry @_miriamrose @itschristianalexander @owenlaheen @connorsalelight @cleoforshort @atelier.abene @jaesmith9 @piggiewiggyy And to the people who helped me find my clown @jay_delise pieldeyaso_ 🤡 You can see my solo show “Farewell My Fool” again! Jan 11th at 5:30 & 7:30p @artsonsite Tickets are available now. If you didn’t get a chance to see it… this is the time!!! Photo by @shotbycaitlyn

“The Call Back” from my time at @arsnovanyc . This was a true experiment. Thank you all who attended for helping me discover what this could possibly be. Felt compelled to channel my anger related to the abuse of women towards something more productive than letting it fester. Thanks again to @abigailrosejb for putting me on @antociantoci for the support and @alexa_grae for sharing the stage and to @nickpage__ for the incredible voice acting and @piggiewiggyy for the wig and costume @camdasher on lights 🤍

Face for the algo The content is changing folks… Been very passionate about learning more about our history as performers in the imperial core. How intersected this industry is to brutality and gender/ racial based violence. I want to connect with people on that. I don’t have a step or a boom kat to express it. Just words right now. Link in bio for the full thing.

Train in the morning. Create in the afternoon. Perform at TOPOGRAPHY! One of the most exciting parts of Dance West 2026 happens in the afternoon—when dancers step into the creative process alongside incredible choreographers. Each participant in the choreography track will be assigned to work with one of three inspiring artists: Joyboy, Ursula Perry, or Daniel Charon (we’ll do our best to match you with your preference). Throughout the two-week intensive, dancers will collaborate closely with their assigned artist to help create a brand new work. The work created during these sessions will be performed in the final TOPOGRAPHY showcase, where dancers share the original choreography developed during the intensive, alongside performances by Repertory Dance Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company! For dancers ready to move beyond technique class and into the creative process, the Dance West choreography track offers a chance to collaborate, create, and perform with artists shaping today’s dance landscape. Register now to reserve your place at Dance West 2026!

This essay is a part of a series to produce research that supports the content of my latest performance titled, The Call Back. In an effort to provide a lineage of evidence regarding deeply rooted gender and racial based issues within the entertainment industry, I wanted to find historical examples of young girls or women being exploited within the realm of performance under the guise of artistic patronage… Read more (link in bio).

DO YOU KNOW THAT WE CAME FROM FISH?! 🐟 Excerpt from @kashiakancey ’s “Closties Variety Hour: Easter Extravaganza” with @themorgangregory @merrittkhandis @pmoyacristina Video courtesy of @arsnovanyc Honored to be apart of this one and work with the genius that IS Kashia 🐣 P.S. I did not know about until this year (I’m not ASHAMED) because I was a CHILD LEFT BEHIND™️ who went to CATHOLIC SCHOOL *dun dun dun* in my formative years and they glossed over evolutionary science. Glad it got me at some point. Learning about paleo anthropology is the only thing that calms down my existential anxiety living in the cluster🤬 that is existence right now and so, it’s my new obsession. This hyper fixation is what got me into a fully funded grad school idk what else I’m trying to say other than sometimes ADHD works in my favor and science rocks 🤘🏾
