This is my vintage @gibsonguitar 1965 ES-335. Bought it over a decade ago in LA. @timsandiford and I were trying out vintage guitars at @guitarcenter and this one jumped out at me. I don’t take it out very often but it’s my main studio guitar. It’s a beast. #guitars #vintageguitars #es335
Alternate tunings are amazing - all the familiar shapes to play on the guitar take a sideways turn, providing a fun way to discover new chords and licks. I recently put some new strings on my 2005 @gibsonguitar SG Classic and tuned it to DADGBD. This tuning is particularly interesting because some ideas from standard tuning, DADGAD and open G merge in fresh and exciting ways. #guitar #alternatetuning #sg #p90s

Had some lovely comments on the guitar sound in the clip of the solo from Cracks In The Mirror - so here’s what was making it happen.
@gibsonguitar Les Paul Special into the @neuraldsp Quad Cortex Mini. The amp is a capture of my Fender Deluxe Reverb with a Tube Screamer model in front - just a touch of drive and a mid boost to give it some bite.
If you look closely at the screen, the patch is even named after the song. 😄
Genuinely can’t get over how a rig this portable can deliver tones at this level.

Despite what the internet guitar community says, the best guitars aren’t always vintage and sought-after.
This is a 2023 @fender Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster. It’s incredible. Sounds fantastic and I’ve used it loads since I got it.
Spent today trying different guitars and tones through the Quad Cortex with the superb @gordonparrishguitar . This guitar is unique - doesn’t sound like any of my other guitars.
Sometimes the best tool is the one that just works.

The SG that changed everything.
Rick Parfitt’s Over and Out - this guitar is all over that album. It’s the guitar I played the solos for Lonesome Road. Over And Out and Without You on. My guitar of choice during the writing sessions.
It’s been quiet for a few years. But, it’s now earning its keep again on something new I’m working on.
