Never thought i’ll be featuring religion in my “deep” series but I knew Amanda’s passion in songwriting and serving held deeper meaning and did not seek the attention of others. As a Christian, @amanda.neriah ’s songs gave me a sense of peace and assurance, almost as a form of therapy for my low moments. Do give her music a listen and show her some loveeee~

happy new year everyone! here’s a little update of the “deep” series after a month long break featuring my ex-supervisor-ish, Gloria! Throughout my time as an intern working with Gloria, I have noticed that she was not just passionate in her work in content strategy but passionate in her other (MANY) areas of interest which spans from crafting new cheongsams and masks, making and selling KIMCHI or just doing her own fitness regimen. It honestly did inspire me in improving my work practice during my internship and also try to make a name for myself in my own work and portfolio.

ever since joining baracuda, a samba rock percussion group in poly, faiz was always been someone i looked up to as a senior. from his energy on stage to his passion for music in the prac room. it was a passion that was truly so infectious. now even as many of my fellow percussion fellas graduated and moved away from music, he took the path taken by few, driven by love for the craft to rent his own space. as much of a musical genius he is (i don’t wanna sound like i worship him), he still chooses to humbly practice as a form of escape and peace, which is what i admire most about him

a good ol’ friend and also an unexpected marine science enthusiast. I always knew shermaine as someone full of soul yet couldn’t find an outlet to pursue it - not until she found her love for marine life despite her initial fear of open water. now one of the most driven and active people i know, she works hard and explores extensively to achieve big dreams and aspirations coming to her in the near future (and i sincerely mean it)

transitioning a passion into a career will always be worrying one way or another, whether it’s music, art, photography or anything not aligned to “mainstream” career paths. for reuel, what’s admirable is his boldness in stepping out of the social norm to pursue what others may consider unconventional or foolish.

Here’s the start of a new series i’m working on featuring people and passions. I’ve always been fascinated by what motivates the average person, very much like myself, to improve their craft or explore new ventures. Though these passions may not stick with us forever, it did for a moment push us to get off our ass and make a difference in our very mundane lives.
