Origines🍯 The highlight of my summer was reuniting with @papayadelmaya to perform after her Show in London for our duet at @szigetofficial . 👯‍♀️ It’s pitched as continental Europe’s answer to Coachella, is emphatically pink, and it happens in a kind of magical pace called The Island of Freedom. It was surreal to perform on the main stage and then watch Eusexua happen there, we performed as @circusx_ X an ensemble of great people and incredible performers. 🌈 I’ve been dancing for over 10 years now, alternating between #DryHands #Griptinite and #GripIt, but it wasn’t until I saw @peterholoda apply crushed rosin to his hands, that I realised the only substrate I needed to grip the pole has been right in front of me all along. As a violinist, I had been applying rosin to my bow for years before I touched a pole. 🌊 Recently visited the Kenyan Coast, for the first time in over two years, and as a visibly queer femme person 🌸 Love being by the water, and it was such a gift to have this time to recharge and create some core memories with my beloved mama 🥺 I was inspired to do some painting when I returned to Nairobi. 🖼️ Thank you so much for your advice @priscaojwang 🥹💖 @theartclubkenya 🇰🇪 and for the supplies @artnairobievas 🫟 excited to learn and expand my craft this year. So far I’m enjoying exploring multidimensionality with textures and tools🖌️After applying the oil paint, I sweep the blade of a palette knife gently across the canvas to give it a rippling glossy finish. I like the tension between its smooth visual texture at a distance (insert Elle Woods quote about #Monet here.lol) and its intimately uneven actual texture. It’s been the joy of my life refining and sharing my art with film and dance these past few years. With carefully staged mirrors and just my trusty @canonuk , we’ve discovered infinite portals and extended realities of pole dance beyond the glass. 🪞 I’m excited to explore the immersive potential of film, canvas, pole dance and glass even more this year!
