Year one. I’ve missed you. It’s been hard. Harder for you I’m sure. You left too soon so quick. I still had so much to learn. A lot happened after we said goodbye. I’m okay now though. Fall brought change, I started to feel half okay, when I got back from the bike ride. I swear I saw you… sitting on a bench by the pond, fog rolling off the water, smiling as the team rode by in the cool September air. I felt it. I felt you in Mexico too. Your spirit, what it must have been like for you to navigate the unknown, driven by a simple intention. To build the family you’d always dreamed of, to love. How that love powers everything else. How it still does. I was sad, for a long time. About everything. Past futures and present tense. Then, one day I heard someone say “she wouldn’t want you to live this way”. Maybe it was you, or the part of you that became me, which is becoming so many parts… All those parts that got me through. All those parts I’m growing into. I guess they’ve always been there. Up and down the Northeast. Time in New York. Time with dad. Closer to him and to you. Maybe that was your gift. The new chapter. Home to you. Essex County.

This year changed my life, in every way imaginable. Most would fall apart, I almost did. But Im blessed with best of em, my friends and family that pulled me through it. Love that changes shape, old bonds restored, and new ones fostered. It taught me time is a precious resource, and we only have each other. A warm and cozy club inside this cold hard world. First time in the Sierra Madres since I hatched. The air, the colors, the way the light moves through the streets, all deeply familiar. Our nervous system stores these imprints before memory and before language, it was felt. Guided by the best of em, pushing further south. 🖤

belated birthday post: august was a dream, like it always is. pacing 33 now. in the quiet light. doing all the things you liked, retracing all our paths. the sweetness of grief. the warmth of love. iykyk, it’s clear who does and who doesn’t. but they’ll learn, we all have to someday. dads okay, he’s doing his thing, he likes the beach, he still goes on walks. retracing all your paths. we’re getting closer. city hopping. boston new york philly. the northeast. my home, your home, where i feel close to you. where ill make my music again. pacing 33. grateful to love, be loved, keep loving.

Life Update: In September I will be riding with team ANIMAL from Boston to New York for @cycleforthecause - my hometown to my home now. Three months to train and raise 3K - hopefully more. Each dollar will go to the @lgbtcenternyc and help our queer siblings access the healthcare, recovery, and prevention services they need. My mom never took no for an answer and she never felt sorry for herself - right up until the end… one of the many gifts she passed on to me. I think she would say something like “it’s good to be outside”… There’s a link in my bio for donations. Please share loudly and widely.
