For a long time, professional excellence in medicine was synonymous with self-sacrifice. Today, a new standard is taking shape, one that prioritizes sustainability and the well-being of the person behind the coat. In this episode of CMA’s Mosaic of Care, we explore the vital shift toward a more human-centered approach to health care. Through impactful personal stories and expert insights on systemic growth, we look at how we can build a culture where physicians don’t just survive, but truly thrive. “As I close this chapter with the Canadian Medical Association, I’ve been reflecting on the experiences, the people and the lessons that will stay with me for years to come. Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting physicians from coast to coast to coast, working with partners in Canada and around the world, and advocating for a stronger health system for everyone in Canada. Thank you to the physicians who shared their stories, their challenges and their ideas with me. I carry those conversations with me as I step into this next chapter.” — Dr. @jossreimer , CMA Past-President

We asked physicians: where should Canadians go for the most accurate health news? In a digital landscape shaped by algorithms, viral posts and AI-generated content, knowing where to turn matters. Accurate health information starts with credible, evidence-based sources, and qualified medical professionals. Your health decisions deserve facts. #PublicHealth #HealthAwareness #HealthEducation #HealthNews #Misinformation

Congratulations to UM alum Joss Reimer [MD/08, MPH/13] on being named Canada's chief public health officer. We are proud that Dr. Reimer’s path was shaped in part at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at UM, including her work directing population health education. Dr. Reimer’s incredible career has been defined by a commitment to evidence-informed practice, public health equity, and clear communication during health emergencies. We know she will bring that same commitment to a national population and we celebrate this important national leadership milestone. You can read more about Dr. Reimer in a UM Today profile by clicking the link in our bio.

February can feel long and there is no better way to use up that time than getting outside to enjoy some movement! Fight winter blues with some skating, walking, running, rolling, sports or whatever other physical activity you love to do. For me, one of my favourite features of winter is how a magical giant park opens up along the river for us all to enjoy. Meet you on #nestaweyarivertrail !!

This past week, I had the opportunity to join medical students at the University of Manitoba’s Student Advocacy panel to discuss the current state of health care in Manitoba. I’m always encouraged by the thoughtfulness, insight and commitment these future physicians bring to conversations about advocacy and patient care. Their leadership matters — and so does creating space for open, evidence-informed dialogue. Thank you for the invitation and for the important work you’re doing.

Canadians are seeing more health advice online than ever before. We asked physicians to debunk viral health claims that people should stop following and why it matters. False health information doesn’t just confuse people. It can delay care, undermine trust and impact patient safety. When it comes to your health, turn to trusted, evidence-based sources. #PublicHealth #HealthAwareness #HealthEducation #Misinformation

Health “hacks” that go viral can do real harm. Coffee enemas. Jade eggs. Wasp nests?! Watch as expert doctors break down the biggest wellness scams they've seen and why they’re dangerous. If it’s not backed by evidence, it’s not worth your health. Share this to help shut down false information. Thanks Dr. Joss Reimer, Dr. Sarah Fraser, Dr. Melissa Lem and Dr. Shazma Mithani! #HealthFacts #WellnessMyths #HealthScams #ScienceBased #EvidenceBased #PublicHealth #HealthEducation #MythBusting #HealthAwareness #StopMisinformation #WomensHealth

Earlier this week, the Canadian Medical Association joined leaders, data experts and physicians at the 2026 Health & Media Tracking Survey event with @empire_club to examine the growing impact of false health information.  We heard how false health news is affecting patient safety, how AI is reshaping the information landscape, and what it will take to ensure health policy remains rooted in evidence. Thank you to our speakers and partners for helping move this essential conversation forward. Distinguishing fact from fiction is not optional — it’s a public health necessity. #HMTS2026

5.9 million Canadians still don’t have access to a family doctor. That number is down since 2022, but we still have a long way to go. Every Canadian deserves access to quality care, regardless of gender, income or age. Let’s make it happen in 2026.

Did you know that some people were celebrating 45 years with the @winnipegrha ?!?! Incredible Thanks to Minister @uzomachioma , Board Chair @marciaj.anderson , Exec members @kerstinjordanleadershipdesign @tltommy1 @janegr8mackay @jeremydmorin , Dan Skwarchuk, and Adrian Salonga for helping celebrate these incredible team members.
