One of my favorite and most challenging photo sets by far, exploring the abandoned YMCA building in Tyler Texas 📸🏢 The YMCA is a pretty big building at 34,544 sq ft and was a recreational center
It was abandoned back in 2017 due to financial struggles and has been vacant ever since
when I got the call about it, I was so hyped to check it out.
Me and the homie @_inim3g_ scoped it out, it was actually kinda hard to get in but we ended up finding a way without breaking in 🫣😶🌫️🫡
The mission was to explore while also getting pictures without getting arrested/trespassed 😂
Thankfully while we explored we had the Smith county sheriff/ police radio scanner on so we weren’t going in clueluess
When we first got in I felt ecstatic
I was really blown away with the state of the building.
It looked as if everyone had just got up and left everything behind one day, there were toys laying around everywhere, items all over the floors, I even saw a box of donuts in one of the rooms.
I had a really hard time getting pictures and grabbing focus because it was pitch black And I was carrying around a big mirrorless camera with a Massive RF-L lens and a big external flash. We had to keep the phone lights down bc we had no clue what kind of surveillance/security systems the building had so we were being careful but also rushing.
We went through a bunch of the rooms and I got some really cool pics :) We had one room left to go which was the pool (I really wanted to get pictures of the pool) but while heading to the pool room the police scanner we had went off and said that a silent alarm/motion sensor had gone off at the address we were at and that they were sending police to check it out. Looking back at the pictures I realized that in a couple pictures like the 5th and 8th slide, you can see some PIR or motion sensors and also cameras in the ceiling
As soon as we heard that we bolted to the exit and got out pretty quick, I saw the cops outside the property while driving past/leaving
Getting out was a whole other story I’ll save for another time 😂
I would not recommend exploring due to the amount of motion sensors/cameras and silent alarms

Some of the hidden gems along side the 720S is this 2022 Aston Martin DBS Volante with a color matched Fabric soft top and a nice looking C8, everytime I see Aston martins like this it feels like a James Bond movie 🤵♂️
I got the chance to shoot this beautiful 2022 McLaren 720S with only 3,241 miles on the dash, it comes with a twin turbo 4.0l v8 paired with a lovely DCT trans, everytime I shoot supercars the attention to detail with the interior and exterior just blows me away. The owner also had a 2022 Aston Martin DBS tucked away 🫣
