We gathered in Mexico for a Christmas so bright
The Constine clan together, such a beautiful sight
A lovely resort, where any worries took flight
Soaking in pools, hot tubs, and the magnificent ocean delight
Humpback whales dancing just off in the blue
Snorkeling with thousands of fish passing by and through
Water slides, laughter, the sun sinking low
Each night getting full on Mexican feasts that steal the show
How sweet it is, all together as one
Family time shared till the sun sets and the days were done
Sally and Sandy, Andee and Josh,
Kennedy, Cadence…oh my gosh!
Aly, myself, and our furry son too
Sweet little Zuko, playing joyfully in view
We’re grateful and lucky for lives filled with grace
Where love is the key in each moment and place
Now off to Florida, more memories start
To gather with my side of the family, closest to my heart
Thank you, Cabo San Lucas, for all that you gave
A holiday blessing we’ll forever remember and save
✨🎄🫶

Stop pretending you’re “laser-focused” and aren’t concerned with competitors.
Instead of acting like they don’t exist, pitch investors on why you’re better:
-Faster and more flexible than incumbents
-More experienced and defensible than other startups
-An exponential improvement on the status quo
Otherwise, investors will form their own opinion based on your rivals’ marketing. You’re too smart and differentiated for that!
My 40th birthday photo shoot! @stephaniecowan truly captured the MAGIC! Thanks to all my friends for being so naturally epic. Guess I should turn 40 every year!
I turned 40 today! But I feel 5 years younger because I’m writing again! Reflecting on this magical life, I am just overflowing with love for my amazing wife @andeeconstine , our ridiculous daughters Kennedy and Cadence, and our compassionate community in SF.
But having kids right after leaving journalism, there’s been so much life to live that my writing practice was on hiatus. Once upon a time before, I published 4000 blog posts at TechCrunch and truly enjoyed the sense of flow when crystallizing thought.
So my gift to myself this year is making time to write, and I’m sharing an excerpt my first essay “Taste Is All You Need” here. If you care about tech stuff, I’d love your feedback, and you can get the full version soon iffff you want to subscribe to my Substack newsletter at Constine.substack.com Writing for you all again would be an honor. Thank you to Andee for throwing me the absurd birthday party where @stephaniecowan shot these enchanting portraits.
And my final wish: that you throw at least one party this year, so you can feel the love of community too.
Want your startup in the headlines? Here’s how to find the right journalist to cover your story:
1️⃣ Find your beat: Search Google News or TechMeme for keywords tied to your product, industry, and competitors. Identify reporters who consistently cover your space.
2️⃣ Rank strategically: Prioritize based on who’s most influential, best reaches your audience, or offers a potential warm intro.
3️⃣ Pitch exclusively: Offer your big news to one reporter at a time. Avoid pitching multiple journalists at the same outlet—they hate that.
Pro tip: Keep it short and don’t send a press release up front. Reporters are busy, so be concise!
