Had a great time with these fellas this evening at our Third Friday Photowalk with @heartofbiddeford . @dmmphotography73 , Ian, Iwani, and @timothyholt_ It means so much to me that you guys came out.
Hi friends! Iām trying something new for Biddeford ArtWalk here in Maine this summer.
On Friday, May 15, Iāll be hosting the first Ina series of Third Friday Photo Walk with Josh Johnson ā a free, low-pressure guided creative walk starting at the studio at 22 Pearl Street.
Weāll gather at 5:30, get a simple photo prompt, then wander downtown together noticing light, texture, people, odd little details, and whatever else Biddeford decides to show us.
Bring any camera or phone. Truly. This is not about gear or being āgood enough.ā Itās about slowing down, looking more closely, and making something alongside other people.
This is part of the first ArtWalk of the summer with @artofbiddeford .

Spots are limited, and all levels are welcome. Iām excited to get back to teaching and facilitating. I hope to see you there! - Josh
Pulled over after the rain to shoot this beautiful atmospheric action happening on the tennis courts. It surprised me how quickly it came in, went and came back again. You learn new stuff all the time if you pay attention.

My friend and photographer @cycyrphoto recently stopped by the studio and asked to interview me for his blog about Maine locals, @bricktides . Iām usually behind the camera so it was a little scary, but Iām glad I did it! My time on Instagram and this community are the most interesting things about my career, so thatās mostly what we talked about. Thanks Cy. That was fun. Always so impressed by your skills.
Maineās Josh Johnson had a front row seat when Instagram was released in 2010. He downloaded the app when it was 72 hours old and provided helpful tips for better photography. The Instagram founders (@kevin and @mikeyk )noticed, and suggested every new user on the platform follow Josh. We sat down with @joshjohnson in Biddeford to learn more about the photos and videos heās working on today and the community he built at @jjcommunity . Read more on BRICKTIDES.com #maine #biddeford
Thank you @portland.citylifestyle for sending the hard copies ššÆ

Happy Motherās Day everyone! thanks to Tim @biddefordforbreakfast for getting me out and shooting EARLY this morning with my new DJI mini at Wood Island light house. #jj_forum_4627
Itās good to get different perspectives. PS. These comments are all mixed up. I was trying to copy and paste a long thread below and I guess the algorithm tells us what we should be reading now and not chronologically. Anyway. š Try getting chat GPT to critique your image and get in a debate with it. Itās fun because I have a feeling it always lets you win. š. Itās weird times folks. š³ #jj1Aday
āWhat are you trying to say?ā I think Itās the most important question we can ask ourselves when we create.
For me, in photography, itās about isolating the subjectāusing depth of field, camera angle, and exposure to minimize distractions. Iām learning, the same process applies to pitching ideas: the challenge isnāt having good ideas; itās clarifying and communicating them clearly.
This wall of signs at the entrance of the studio reminds me how too much information, even if itās all good, can dilute the message. Iām remembering that strong communication often comes down to what you leave out.
Iām working this week on a presentation. Weāre pitching to make the content for a company for 2025. Anyone have tips on pruning ideas into a clear, impactful pitch? - JJ #JJ1aDay
