I don’t think you can take any credit for meeting someone. Everything that happens after? Sure, you can take credit for all of that but…merely meeting someone? That’s pure chance. You did not do that.
We’re all just impossibly conjoined atoms bouncing around miraculously in an endless universe, with millions and millions of people on this rock called Earth that we exist on. When we meet another human somewhere I believe that we didn’t have anything to do with why they were there in that exact moment in time as you. You can’t will a perfect soulmate into existence, and you can’t force the world to bring you the person you need most in your life. You are not in control. We are helpless in this regard. The odds are stacked WAY against us.
That’s why I always say I’m lucky. I am the luckiest man on the planet as far as I am concerned. Somehow, some way, the world brought this incredible human into my life and through an unpredictable sequence of events this incredible person became my wife. I already knew when we met that she was my soulmate, but it just felt like meeting my best friend. That’s what she instantly was, the second we met. She’s my best friend. It was like it had always been. We just met, but we’d felt like we’d know each other forever. We just fit, instantly.
I didn’t *deserve* her. I still don’t. I didn’t do anything to make her magically appear in my life, but - ever since I’ve met her I’ve done everything I can to keep her in it. She is the most perfect person to me, in every way. You can’t convince me otherwise. She’s magic. She is beautiful, brilliant, caring, kind, thoughtful, playful, trustworthy, fun loving, adventure seeking, a perfect mother, and the perfect wife. I am so so goddamn lucky. I didn’t do anything to bring into my life, yet…here she is.

What an incredible night celebrating Dallas' best! Remy is overwhelmed by the support from promoters, musicians, producers, and artists in DFW and beyond..She has been at it since she was 12…open mics weekly and cheering for the community and showing up. I’ve been following @remyreilly for years on the Dallas scene, watching her develop as an artist and grow as a performer. I’ve always been impressed with her talent, but even more so with her raw potential. I loved seeing her churn out song after song, knowing that THAT is the work ethic artists truly need to win in this insane industry we exist in. My favorite artists to work with are the ones who are focused on quality, and those who are familiar enough with the songwriting process to get in the dirt with me and work until we have a great song.
After years of watching, I finally got the call to meet up with @johnpatrick67 and Remy and start the process. We had instant chemistry, and the writing session was as easy as I expected it to be. She said was nervous to meet with me without any material prepared, but I knew it didn’t matter if she brought in an idea or not. Most of the time I’m writing from scratch with artists anyways, and I probably prefer it that way so there’s no “attachment issues” with old songs that might not be as strong as something we can come up with together in the room.
“Ricochet” was born out of an old piano riff that Remy had been playing around with for years, but had never found a home for. We instantly caught a melody and in about 5 hours we cranked out the lyrics and had the song down.
I’m so excited to be a part of her journey, and I can’t wait to do many more songs with Remy to help elevate her music to the highest level. She is an artist the world deserves to hear, and I think “Ricochet” is a perfect introduction to her new sound. Go stream it today, and enjoy the vibes!!!
