It’s one of life’s great gifts to have a brother, and I am fortunate to have two. Today I celebrate @matthewblacker on his Birthday. He’s dashingly handsome, smart, funny, loyal, considerate and always up for my wacky adventures. We lost one of our best this week. I never had the opportunity to work with @captaingauthier but in my early days I was struggling with the business and what to do. I had met Chris at an industry event and after chatting for a bit I asked him if he could offer any advice. He gave me his phone number without hesitation and said to call him and we could chat. I thought he was just being polite, but in a really rough time I called him and he so graciously not only took my call but spent and hour on the phone with me to give me guidance and offer some incredibly sage advice on the business, life and so much more. It was everything I needed in that moment and he did it with his signature humor and earnestness. I think back on it often and how much he helped somebody he didn’t even know at the time. That kindness to a new actor in town says everything about what a kind and beautiful soul Chris was. We stayed in touch and he would often reach out to cheer me on as our careers progressed. I will never forget his kindness and it is not hyperbole to say that without that phone call I may not be in the business today. Chris, thank you for being such an incredible human being and showing this new actor the generosity of spirit that so many others already knew. I am struggling to find the word to say how much that small gesture meant and how much I appreciated your kindness. Your memory will live on in my heart and all of those lives you touched. Gone way too soon. A gifted actor but and even more beautiful soul. Rest in Peace, brother. 💔
