Standing at the ceremonial South Pole was a dream realised on 13.01.24. Rocky held up remarkably well in temperatures as low as -35 degrees on certain days of the expedition as we made it to the bottom of the planet. The world’s first rocking horse to be pulled to the South Pole will be auctioned off to raise funds for two amazing charities @rockinghorse67 and @kidscape so if you might be interested please DM me for details.

The aim of this challenge is to get me mentally and physically prepared for Antarctica this December. When we did the South Downs Way in 2021 the longest day was Day 1 - 42km and took 12 hours to complete and it was a brutal day! 🛞🥵

Two months since we completed this epic adventure challenge from sea to summit of Kilimanjaro and looking forward to a reunion with the team in a few weeks time!
Reflecting on the challenge, I wanted to first shout out and thank you @shackletonofficial for supporting us on this world first challenge. The quality of their products is exceptional having used different outerwear kit in polar, desert, alpine and mountainous terrains over the years.
On the summit push for Mt Kilimanjaro and also Mt Vinson my @shackletonofficial kit kept me warm in conditions as cold as -37 degrees and focused on the challenge at critical time on the expedition. I have worn different kit throughout various challenges and can say without a doubt their kit is world class, designed importantly to be versatile and practical for finding that item in a pocket without the need to take gloves or kit off. Might sound simple but can result in the difference of success or failure on expeditions.

It’s 1 month today since we came down from summit of Kilimanjaro with this incredible bunch of humans who took on the challenge of a lifetime to climb Africa’s highest mountain. World first ultra triathlon from Indian Ocean to top of Africa’s highest mountain Kilimanjaro took 9 days 15 hours 45 minutes.
Although, the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro is 5,895m due to the undulating terrain of the challenge the team climbed on bike and foot a total elevation of 10,320m to make it to the top and burnt a total of 30,221 calories.
This was a tough challenge with sickness, burns, blisters and exhaustion but we got there thanks to the amazing support of @brightcausepr@kidscape@uncharted.summits@pitmantozer@knightfrank@wearegivestar@shackletonofficial@mason_cycles@huntersandunicorns@harness.io

Day 6 - Summit push
Leaving at midnight this part of the journey is a real test of perseverance, your body is tired from hiking, altitude makes it hard to breathe or eat and then you have to go for an all nighter and climb another 1,000m higher where the oxygen is approximately 45% of that at sea level.
Emotions were running high with bodies breaking but knowing we had invested so much time to get to this stage we had to keep plodding. Challenges like this shape people and build resilience.
For me this final approach was tough but when the end is in sight, excitement and realisation of achieving the goal lit a fire inside me that powered me to the top. Add the incredible team around me all quietly striding together towards the top of Africa was so special!

Day 5 - waking up to the prospect of the next 24 hours being one brutal final test with little or no sleep. Add sickness and exhaustion the day before, which had nearly ended my attempt on the sea to summit challenge - this pre-climb song was what the doctor ordered….Asante sana! 🇹🇿 🙏
For me this is why Africa is so special…the culture is positive, uplifting, rooted in warmth and love for everyone. The team knew the mountain had broken our spirits slowly, so they saved this for us, just before we started the day and what is so simple gave us rocket fuel for the day ahead! 🚀🏔️

Day 2-4 was brutal with exhaustion, food bug and altitude sickness pushed my mind and body to another level. Plodding from one rest stop to another, seriously tested my resilience but sometimes it is just a case of one foot in front of the other is all you can try and do.
This was a brutal reality check and led me to question if I could go on as we climbed from 3,000m to 4,600m. It was super special to have an incredible gang encouraging each other up the mountain all in aid of @kidscape to change young lives.

Hiking through different terrains up this majestic mountain helped distract from those blisters, altitude sickness and illness.
Kili did not disappoint as we moved through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert and eventually to arctic ice.
