I’m lucky to get to do work that can be legitimately fun, mostly because the best things happen when it is. This year’s Webby Awards theme was “All Good” (even though everything’s probably not), and I’m proud to have been recognized for our role in bringing a little light and positivity to our corner of the internet. The new slinky is nice, too.
Short but sweet weekend in Chicago comes to an end. Little bit of nostalgia and a little bit of something new. One of life’s little joys is when you can not see someone for years and when you do it feels like no time has passed at all. That was the feeling I had all weekend. 🤘🎸⚾️🚲🍕🏟️🍻
When the restaurant seats you in the same spot where you took a memorable photo 11 years ago, you have to recreate the pic. (Except the waiter tells you someone always steals the sombreros so they only have one and you’ll have to settle for good enough).
The original photo was my first time in Houston and the first time visiting Adela’s parents, so despite being a little nervous, I remember having such a fun time that night, even as Adela’s dad mischievously invited the staff over to sing for my birthday (it was not my birthday).
Little did I know I’d spend an entire year living here and oh, that’s right — marry the girl next to me (might have had an idea about that one 😏).
To my best friend, partner in life., soulmate and husband. This trip has been nothing but UNBELIEVABLE. Can’t wait to continue to experience life together and explore this world with you. Love you, your goose.
Celebrating five years ❤️ + finally getting to take the OG honeymoon trip plans if life hadn’t been interrupted in 2020. She’s always taking me to new places, figuratively and literally. Love you @adela_lems 😘
9.19.19 💍💫 …and just like that it’s been five years. I glanced at my ring while getting ready for work this morning and couldn’t believe I’ve worn it for five years already. I remember how weird it felt on my finger at first, but now, just like you, it’s a part of me and I’d feel bare without it.
Unlike the ring though, nothing has ever felt strange with you. Everything is natural. Everything feels easy, even when objectively it isn’t. And everything will be alright, or at least as long as I’m with you, I believe it.
Adela, you are the most beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring and calm person I have ever met, and I honestly still don’t know where you came from. But I am forever grateful to the universe or whomever or whatever for bringing us together.
Here’s to (at least) 50 more years of laughing at each other's dumb jokes every day, continued evolution of our (not so) secret language where everything ends with an “s” for some reason, Ruben’s deli, inside jokes and living every day with love and appreciation. Love you babes to the moon and back. 😘❤️
And the second leg of our European trip comes to an end. I honestly never expected to have an experience like this with my parents. To see them out of their comfort zone, embracing it and ultimately enjoying it was pretty special. Now as I meticulously clean my luggage of possible bed bug stowaways 😬, I'm just thankful we were able to do it and have a full new set of memories to look back on...even that time I got stuck in a Paris rush hour train door or when I basically saved my dad's life when we he looked the wrong way in London traffic (I won't let him forget that one 😉)
What a day! Bills lose, but I mean come on, some things never change. 😆 Great day with mom and dad. Never thought I'd see them out of the US or proximity, but here we are. Next stop...🇫🇷
