texas
part one of my march adventures
the only thing better than the best BBQ in the world is being friends with the people who make it, i feel so lucky to have met such talented and passionate people all over the world and the crews at both
@goldeesbbq &
@barbs.b.q are the epitome of passion meeting innovation rooted in tradition.
the day i met
@alvin.zhou at an
@offlinetv party, he told me he was going to film a documentary at
@goldeesbbq the next day. a year later, two years ago now from last month, he went back to visit them and i tagged along, it was an unforgettable trip & was right around the time i was making some massive changes in my life, going back this past month was like a victory lap in some ways, looking at the progress i’ve made physically and mentally in the past few years, seeing all the friends i made on that first trip again.
this time around i felt the urge to rent a truck and fully lean into the spirit of things and it worked out perfectly because we road tripped down to lockhart texas to visit
@barbs.b.q and that became one of my favorite moments of the entire trip, and one of the best meals of my life, no question.
it was also so much fun to meet the crew from
@hundredburgers_ as they were on their “pursuit” for the best burgers across the world, they stopped in and shared a tray of BBQ with us at goldees and we also got to join them at a burger spot & i brought them to
@thenativecoffeecompany for some incredible coffee. can’t wait to visit them in spain.
i still cannot believe that something as good as the ribs at
@barbs.b.q , or the turkey / pork belly / laotian sausage and sticky rice / lamb ribs at
@goldeesbbq exists… genuinely mind blowing and that doesn’t even cover the basics. the sides at both places, the brisket, the BREAD… the desserts… i can’t keep thinking about it my mouth is watering… i will be back much sooner than another two years.
good food, good people, good times, rock and roll.
