I’m learning to see my world from a whole new perspective 🎥 A few BTS moments from our ‘He Kōrihi’ shoot. Acting has always been the dream. For 10 years, I’ve given it everything. My full time, full focus, and undivided attention. Everything I’ve learnt, and all the friends I’ve made, have become a doorway to this next endeavour… I’m still a pōtiki in the directing space, and I’m doing it imperfectly. But I’m taking this wero, I’m here for it, and I know there’s a place for me. Bringing other people’s stories and characters to life is one of my greatest loves. But it’s time to tell stories of my own. Māori stories. Thank you @dayone_nz for taking a shot on me 🤘🏽 Let’s get it

My nan just pulled the Uno flip on us… In my 31 years, never did I ever think of eating a Feijoa this way. Guarantee 95% of you will be the same 🤯 She’s on to something though 👌🏽

I’m not an acting coach or a casting director, nor am I above anyone else. This is just a perspective, a whakaaro that came up this morning. As artists and actors, our individuality is one of our greatest strengths. The things that make you who you are, and your own lived experience, are your superpowers. Lean into that ✨👌🏽

A bit of a Haerenga (journey) this one. 3 weeks ago, my Koro’s old boat popped up on marketplace. It had been restored and still has his name on it. So I roped my best mate and dad into going for a quick roadie, and decided to get it. When he passed away 8 years ago the boat sold out of the whanau. I never really thought about having a one, but I knew I needed to get it. Kapiti is my motu - my koro, my dad, my uncle and cousins all had boats and sailed those waters, and my siblings and I will too. So it seems like the right time. Nau mai, Hoki mai Koro 🚤

We’re running a crowdfund to close the gap on what we need to make this short film whanau. In this video we talk a little bit about our kaupapa, the story, the where and some silly’s at the end. (Kickstarter link in bio) We’ve been funded through @dayone_nz but are a little short on what we need to make it at the level we’d hoped. It’s an ambitious kaupapa - soundscape, drama, full te reo, travelling crew across the motu and staying/filming on Kapiti island. It’s a big ask, but if you’d like to help, click that bio link - any donation and sharing this post with your friends and whanau would mean the world. From our litre rōpu, nga mihu nui 🧡🙏🏼 Look forward to bringing this life and sharing it with you all soon ✨

A hero’s journey ⚔️ It’s been a month since The house of Ashur finished airing and it’s been such a treat seeing people respond to the show positive way. I wanted to share a little collection of moments from Tarchon’s story. Brotherhood, pride, courage, ego, romance, violence, grief, warrior, rage, tenderness, love, warmth, cheekiness, arrogance, denial, triumph - a gift of a role that allowed me to experience all of it. He challenged me in many ways. I found myself constantly biting my tongue with his attitude - but ironically, it was also a treat to play something so opposite to my bassline. He physically demanded a lot, the stunts, the physique, movement. And he had to feel a genuine love for his father so that I could explore the depths of his grief truthfully when that time came. It took me a little bit to find his footing, and to find all the layers; but once I did, we were off to the races ✌🏽 There were so many things I learnt and took away from this job. The friends, the upgrades in my craft, the sword and stunt skills- but the main thing Tarchon gave me, that I’ll hold on to forever - was my ‘voice’ He spoke his mind, he wasn’t afraid, he was blunt, he had a lot of courage - stubborn most of the time - but he taught me to say ‘No’ more and to fight for something when you needed to, even in the eyes of greater power. I found my voice, my respect as an artist, and my ‘no’ through him. Anyway, ramble over, thank you again for all the love on the show so far 🧡🙏🏼 It’s been a pleasure ⚔️
