Throwback to my very overdue first visit to Japan. The country exceeded my already high expectations. Seeing nerd culture as the mainstream culture in Tokyo was also nothing short of amazing. I also fell in love with the mesmerizing nature on Hokkaido.
Also revitalized my love for photography. Which feels effortless in a country where everything matches your favorite aesthetics.

Introducing: Joran van Pol
Joran has been a steady force in the scene since his early days at Studio 80. Shaping a dark, precise, and driving techno sound that has carried him across more than 20 countries and stages like Awakenings, Fuse and Dockyard.
He describes his approach as “to-the-point techno with abstract sounds,” music that leaves intentional space so “the crowd’s minds can fill in the gaps.”
That instinct goes all the way back to his earliest sets, and later crystallised when he first heard Ricardo Villalobos:
“That was the moment I thought: this is the direction I should take.”
Beyond the booth, he mentors upcoming artists at the Conservatorium Haarlem, guiding the next wave while continuously refining his own craft.
Now he brings that focus to Kármán.
