The part no one sees is usually the part that matters most.
No audience. No applause. Just me, figuring it out in real time.
The prep, the small shifts, the quiet decisions that shape everything else.
It’s not glamorous, but it’s real.
Progress doesn’t always feel like a breakthrough.
Sometimes it’s just showing up, setting the backdrop, and printing something out to hold the work in your hands for once.
This series is a reminder to myself:
– Setup counts
– The details stack
– You don’t have to be seen to be getting better
I’m not chasing perfect.
I’m just trying to keep making things that feel like me.
Is pizza acceptable for breakfast? Asking for a friend…🍕🤷🏻♂️
There’s nothing I enjoy more than being able to change my editing style to fit a locations aesthetic.
Every client I shoot for has a vision for their business so being able to help execute that for them is always satisfying.
Whatever you screen shot is what’s for dinner… 😅🍝
So I recently had the opportunity to shoot a project for a meal prep company and had a wild time setting up my overhead rig and man handling food all day to get these shots.
What more could you want when one of your close friends runs a creative studio and she lets you take creative lead on a campaign 🤷🏻♂️
Shoutout @jess_milad and her creative studio adventures @_miladmedia 🚀
I get asked a lot how I shoot some of the photos I create.
So I thought this would be a fun way to breakdown some of the setups I put together on a shoot.
Not going to pretend like I remember the camera settings.
But I’ll do better with that as I make more of these.
Another example of the little things I “fix” in my photos.
I realize that my attention to detail can slow me down sometimes.
But seeing the end product always makes me feel some type of way 😌
Things I tweeked:
- marks on couch
- straightened out table
- fixed table cloth
- cleaned up knife
- removed eyesores on bowl
- the fork in between drink and bowl
Having photographed mainly restaurants this past year I’ve really gained an appreciation for the design that goes into each location.
I post a lot of food but I always try to show the interiors to really add to the feeling the food gives off.
Plus some locations are just wild inside 🤣
Just a quick burger appreciation post! 🍔 One plus side to photographing a burger spot is getting to eat the burger right after. It’s always the best when getting to experiment with fun concepts and the chance to good food! Shoutout @kxburger
One of the most important shots I get at any restaurant is always the overhead full table setup. It’s a mission all in itself where do the dishes go? Where do the drinks and utensils go? Are there appetizers? It seems like it should be simple but everything really does have its own place. Took me awhile to get a hang of it but finally figured it out…I think 😅
Not everything is perfect! In post, its small adjustments like this that can really change the feeling a photo gives.
I always shoot with intention so all of my shots are lit and framed the way I want them and I leave small changes like this for when I’m editing.
Just diving into the little things that go unnoticed when I shoot for different businesses. Always great to keep an eye out for the interesting details when you’re in a space.
