Tokyo + Fuji Scenes. Nov/Dec 2024
Japan pt. 4/4. Tokyo + Fuji. (wow i finished the japan backlog)
Getting our very first glimpse of Mt. Fuji from the shinkansen and again on clear skies going around Lake Kawaguchi. Exploring Tokyo in segments, matching the high paced movement and the late night store closures.
Finding hidden gems in thrifting and in food, getting the best (white) pizza I've ever had, seeing great museums and architecture from Kengo Kuma, Tadao Ando, and Shigeru Ban in person. Experiencing it all with the best people. (too many photos to capture)

Kobe + Uji Scenes. Nov/Dec 2024
Japan pt. 3. Kansai (other regions). Making our way around the other kansai areas.
A day spent trying to reach the 'Rokko Meets Art 2024' exhibit, but didn't quite make it. Still got to enjoy a Tadao Ando classic and the city skyline in very cold 3 degree weather
Another day spent in a bid to find matcha and other tea ceremony paraphernalia (success)
Didn't give these places much thought before the trip, but these had some of our favorite moments of the trip

Kyoto Scenes. Nov/Dec 2024
Japan pt. 2. The Kyoto Leg. 1 day as a group. Traveling as a group to Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari, exploring the Higashiyama District, and watching the autumn lights at Kiyomizudera. Then another day as a couple exploring Nishiki Market, having a traditional Tea Ceremony, and going around the Kyoto Imperial Garden.
Days well spent hustling through crowds, subsisting on kombinis, market stalls, and random bakeries, then chasing the last trains back to Osaka for home base.

Osaka Core. Nov/Dec 2024
Japan pt. 1. Osaka, Kansai leg. Transit, walking, sights, and food. Waking up early and sleeping late in a rush to take in everything. In awe of the accessibility and overwhelmed by the food choices.
From getting lost in trains to exploring random alleyways, and all the soft serve and egg sandwiches you can eat. Can't forget the curry and the izakayas

Metiz. August 2024
Photo backlog from our anniversary but just in time for valentine's! With the best @_piapea thank you always for being you. Love you always, you know the rest ❤
Metiz offers a lot of flavors rooted in fermentation, pickling, and similar techniques, which is definitely what drew us in. Their first few courses were top-tier (all in order before the Pampano dish at 07) and stood out compared to the last four dishes, with my personal favorite being the Pompano (to be honest, I wish this had been the main entrée). From what I recall, it was extremely flavorful without masking the natural taste of the pompano itself.
While the other dishes were still good (the lighting and my pictures don’t really do them justice), it just sort of fell off (for me) after the Pompano dish. However, what objectively stood out for me was the service. There was great attention to detail, even in the placement and alignment of the silverware. I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to improve with their future dishes. It was a great place to celebrate and I hope we get the chance to go back again someday.

Bangkok Architecture + Food. July 2024.
Backlog pt 3. Finally done with the Bangkok backlog. Bangkok was a fun city to explore and despite having only 1 free day... and 30k steps, I still hit about 70-80% of what was on my initial list
Always on my agenda are the museums + different landmarks. Unfortunate that the grand palace was closed because of the king's birthday, but I was still able to catch a glimpse.
On food that I would definitely get again going back (I can see why they were on the bib gourmand):
- the chicken (from Soi Polo) was so crispy and the sauce was super good. If there are better places, please let me know
- the mango sticky rice (from K. Pranich Sticky Rice) was so good. I don't know how it can really get better
- the oyster omelette (from Nai Mong Hoi Thod) is the best I've ever had. Tried both the soft and the crispy egg, and the crispy one is where it's at
Learnings from this trip: always bring a backup SD card

People in Bohol. August 24-29, 2023.
Finally had some time to complete the back log from last year. Kind of wish I had more time to do street photography, wasn't able to capture the interesting contrast with the tourist/non-tourist destinations. Looking forward to the next with @_piapea

Time well spent ATV riding through the Chocolate Hills, diving through hotel amenities, driving through the different landmarks, hopping through islands and caves, and watching fireflies
