Summer is slowly starting to peek its head out here in Dubai, and moments like these remind me why this city is such a special place to live and work. Good weather, good conversations, and even better people.
There’s something really unique about the friendships and community here. Between the fast pace of work and the constant movement, it’s the people around you that make Dubai feel like home.
Grateful for good friends, laughter, late evenings, and the chance to slow down for a moment and appreciate it all. ☀️
Truly grateful for the good things in life today. People can make a world of difference in any situation you are facing. It’s important to remember what really matters when we are faced with circumstances beyond our control. We are all in this together, and we all have a responsibility to support one another. There is strength in numbers. Express your feelings, lean on those around you, and push through the difficulty. Iron sharpens iron. These are the moments I cherish. Not because they are lavish or grand, but because they are the moments that keep us going when times are hard.
Finally after a long season it was time to get away and leave the city to explore the UAE. 🇦🇪 this has been on of the greatest kept secrets I have found. Vally Stone Chalet is an incredible get away situated inside a palm forest near Fajurah. Braai’s 4x4ing and lots of swimming. I highly advise coming here. Ahmed was a great host and exploring the area was incredible. Thank you again @christiaanellis_ for jumping at the opportunity to get out of the house and have a mid week adventure. An absolute blessing.
And for everyone asking here it is: /rooms/1526016152138485187?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76
An incredible time working with some truly talented people who are developing groundbreaking work in the region. It was a privilege to film alongside friends and collaborators. Days like these give you space to reflect on how the industry is evolving. AI is becoming part of our craft and when applied thoughtfully it can help us create beautiful, meaningful films. Simplicity at scale is key. I’m grateful to be surrounded by people who are leading the way. A day of learning, creating, and moving forward together. Am excited for what comes next.
Life in the UAE has a strange and beautiful rhythm to it. The summers test your patience and your character, but when winter finally arrives, it feels like the whole country exhales. The air becomes gentle, the sky turns impossibly blue, and suddenly the desert, the mountains, the coast and the city all open themselves up again. You find yourself outside more, moving more, talking longer, staying out later. There is something quietly magical about those months where the heat loosens its grip and everything feels possible again. No phones, no deadlines, just boots on stone, wind on your face and that sense of being exactly where you are meant to be. These are the days that remind you why this place, with all its contrasts and intensity, slowly becomes home.
Winter has arrived, shoots are picking up, and Christmas is around the corner. Every now and then you have to pause and look for that smallest ray of sunshine that reminds you the world is still full of beauty. Things change and evolve. The more they do the less I fear them and have begun to embrace them. Who knows what the next year will bring.
As the year wraps up, it’s wild to look back on how much the last two years have changed me. I’m incredibly grateful for the friends I’ve made and the experiences I’ve had. The Middle East continues to surprise me in the best ways, especially with the kindness and warmth of the people here.
I’m slowly finding my peace again. It’s taken a lot of healing, but I finally feel like myself. I’m excited for what the future holds. It won’t always be easy, but the things that matter rarely are.
