Run to your nearest bookshop and get THE BOY IN THE DRESS and then buy another copy for your queer bestie, then another for your aunt who’s into true crime and then another for your downstairs neighbour who’s into Australian history. It’s out and it’s proud 🥲

When I saw that The Boy in the Dress has been nominated for @theageaustralia non-fiction book of the year award online, I thought it was a typo. But it’s also in print so I suppose it’s true?! I’m still reeling but I can’t thank @affirmpress + acquiring editor @co_mcgrath & editor @armelledavies enough for making this book a reality. Also @jameshwhitmore for editing/panel beating many many drafts. My mug is also in The Age for my @melbwritersfest appearance on the 8 Sep. Ticket link in bio!
Listen back to today’s ep (6 May 2026) on the @3rrrfm website to hear Sydney playwright @georgepeterkemp chat about his debut novel SOFT SERVE (@uqpbooks ) & Aurelia St Clair on books, comedy and our upcoming @melbwritersfest event this Saturday 4:30pm

Big news 📰 I’m stoked to announce that I’m now officially represented by the literary agent Jane Novak! It’s surreal (and a touch terrifying) to see my name on her website alongside such heavyweights, but I’m beyond grateful to have her in my corner as I develop my next project. Watch this space! ✨
Here’s two Midsumma events for the party animals out there! Love maps? Gay? Live in Hobsons Bay? Come to the ‘Mapping LGBTQIA+ History’ session at Newport Community Hub on 29 January & we’ll create some west side queer history together. I’ll also be running a workshop at Flemington Library on 2 February to help you find those queers hidden in your family tree. Registration links in bio under Events 🏳️🌈
Ever since I went to a Titanic exhibition for my 7th birthday, I’ve loved seeing garments and other treasures in the flesh. DIVA at the new AMPA, @artscentremelbourne is a dreamland for queers. It was a pleasure chatting with Margot Anderson from Arts Centre Melbourne & Kate Bailey from London’s @vamuseum about it on @3rrrfm . Listen to the episode on rrr.org.au 👩🎤💎💖
When Dennis Altman slid into my DMs in 2022 after reading The Boy in the Dress, I couldn’t believe that one of my heroes had read my work (touching, even if it came with a fact-check query). I’m now honoured to call Dennis a good mate, and today I was able to interview him about his latest book, Righting My World, on @queerviewmirror . Link to our interview on the @3rrrfm website - Jono 💜
