What a weekend.
Played 2 sold out shows with the bearded balladeer @benrector in Indianapolis last weekend with @indysymphony . Thank you to everyone who came out. What a blast.
Amazing orchestra @indysymphony - Awesome conducting by @enricolopezyanez - Deep pocket grooves by @jaredkneale - and wonderful photos by @lukewarmmenard (thank you for getting a pick of the bow so I could realize that I’m bowing way lower than necessary).
ON SALE NOW! American pop rock singer-songwriter, record producer and pianist @jonmclaughlin is coming to The Guild Theatre! Be sure to catch the Scenarios Tour on OCT 14. Tickets at the link in bio!🎹
People ask me a lot what my favorite venue to play is. The truth is I don’t really have a favorite.
I think there are 3 categories of venues. I have played my fair share of pretty terrible venues. I’ve also been very fortunate to play some really nice venues. But then there are the venues that just have some kind of magic vibe that you can’t explain. The Troubadour in LA is in the latter category for me. I played it last night for the 5th time and it was absolutely a blast.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, to the Troubadour staff for being awesome, to The Beantones for kicking the night off and this talented band for sounding fantastic!
Also huge thanks to @markofilms for the awesome photos
April 10 - West Hollywood CA (w/ @the.beantones !!)
April 11 - Las Vegas NV
April 13 - Phoenix AZ
April 15 - Salt Lake City UT
April 17 - Denver CO
Who’s coming???
I can remember where I was the first time I saw and heard Billy Joel for the first time. It was mesmerizing. He looked insanely cool, was playing piano and harmonica and was singing lyrics like “…real estate novelist…” You could make the argument that I’ve pretty much been trying to be like Billy Joel ever since.
Fast forward to 2014 when I got to open a few shows for Billy. I will never forget that first night in Detroit when Billy sat and watched our entire soundcheck. Very kind and also very nerve racking. The only thing more nerve racking than playing your own music in front of your musical hero is playing THEIR music in front of them.
Well, the other night I got to join a slew of crazy talented artists at Carnegie Hall to honor Billy. We all picked a song from his catalogue and performed. To make the experience even more amazing we got to play with Billy’s band. It was such a great night that I’ll never forget.
Can’t thank you enough for your music, @BillyJoel
(also, thanks a lot for a crushing, show ending performance by @mattnathanson right before I step on stage and try to continue the show!) (also thanks @jeremyblume for getting this video)
